Let's stay in our homes forever because we might die if we leave. Actually, let all the Democrats stay in their houses forever. That's what they want. The rest of us will live our lives.

It is not a "lockdown". With proper precautions we can go to the grocery and drug stores, and some others. We can take walks an hikes, can garden in our yards. We can go for necessary healthcare. We can socialize with our neighbors if we keep our distance. We can get take-out restaurant food. You can even get plants for the garden at nurseries if you do it the right way. But this is not universal. As you all know, it is different in different places. States are making their own determinations, often by county or city. I am in California, and many of the more rural counties that have not been hard hit by the virus are pretty much open. As things open up, there will be new guidelines about social distancing, but those will vary by state and locality. You notice that the Wisconsin supreme court just threw the whole stay at home thing out. Some places that opened up may close back down if there is a resurgance. It will depend not only on where you are, but also whether the virus has a resurgance, when a vaccine is put into usage, whether other therapies are developed, etc. People would like to know with some certainy when this will end, but there is no answer.

I'm amazed that we are TWO MONTHS into this and people are still defending the lockdowns. How long are you willing to live like this because some politician tells you that's how you have to live?

Liberals really are not Americans, at least my definition of what an American is.

It's a lockdown, you fool. If the government is dictating where and when and how you can move about, that is a lockdown.

That's quite a statement. Regardless of what you think, I am an American and a citizen. How you look at this situation to some extent depends on whether you value your own individual freedom more than that of others, more than other peoples' right not to die prematurely. Individualism is an American ideal, but it can be taken too far. When your individual freedom causes my death, there is a conflict. Perhaps which side you come down on depends on ideology, or perhaps just on values.

Pretty much correct. We however stayed close to home. Didn't travel to Seattle on the commuter bus to visit DS. We are retired 70/73 so we are careful but we broke the stay-at-home rules to do some walks. Difficult to do delivery, here especially, when Costco, FredMeyer SuperStore, Safeway, TraderJoe are within a mile from us.

We will stay in social isolation till at least mid June. Masked for as long as it takes.

How long exactly are we supposed to be on lockdown?
Have you asked your Governor, yet?

As you know, the Democrat Governors keep MOVING THE GOAL POSTS. So asking them is an effort in futility. There is no reason this total lock down should have occurred nor should it be still in place.

Flatten the curve > Just a bit longer to make sure > Need to find a cure before open > New Normal.

See the problem?
