So, for the hardcore Republicans and Democrats out there, would you actually avoid and area because of politics?
I think this is a really stupid thing to do, personally. I disagree with people in many states on many political issues, but I'd never not go somewhere for that reason. There are so many amazing places in this country that are worth seeing.
It wouldn't be a significant factor, honestly. Employment is number 1. Then other things come later.
Realistically, the kind of places I like to live in (urban, dense, metros) generally do not contain a lot of people with different views to myself. So I would likely never have to even consider this question in a serious way.
I'll put it this way. Living in Oklahoma City has made me the liberal and the atheist I am today. The "Christians" that run this place and control it with an iron fist are the absolute worst kind. I'll be moving whenever I can finally afford to and politics is the primary reason why.

Very weird place. Never went back.
