I thought conservatives/Republicans were the "rugged individualists" of society?
In no way shape or form does the State have any right to impede freedom of association, freedom of movement, and the machinery of private property.
Having said that, if you can't stay drug-free/fat-free/overdose free/not beat your wife or kids because of adversity that could possibly occur in a free society (aka capitalism) then you're not a "rugged individualist".
You're an undisciplined moron with no principle and Darwin should have took you out a long time ago.
Are you under the impression that Milwaukee = all Republicans?
Maybe you should go there sometime. Then you will be less ignorant.

What happens in Milwaukee is not reflective of the rest of the country, or the world. Still, any big negative economic event such as the recession of 2008 is going to result in some additional drug use and suicides, intentional or accidental.
It's just the easy way out for some people who cannot handle a major crisis.
Attempted suicides are usually attention seeking. If someone really wants to die they will succeed the first time.
It is unfortunate we are so soft, but we have raised generations of people on feels, trophies for all and psychotropic medications. Now things don't go their way and they are too weak to deal with it.
Sorry. We have a pandemic to deal with, and we are doing what we need to do.
I think most people know that Trump has exactly one thing that matters to him - winning in 2020.
And 2024....and 2028....and 2032.....I believe he intends to pull a Franklin D Roosevelt on us to stay in office forever. He wanted a large corporation to run and he found one big enough for his ambition: the USA. And he doesn't intend to give it up without a fight.
The same situation is Milwaukee is likely going on nationwide.
Unlike the sense of cohesion and solidarity that people during the Great Depression, there is very little sense of trust or organization today.
As predicted it looks like drug overdoses, suicide attempts, usage of psychiatric medications is skyrocketing and this is likely just the beginning as this is just the first month of this pandemic.
I would not be surprised if the toll of drug overdoses, suicides, medication overdoses, increased crime rates is higher than this terrible respiratory virus itself.
People are also staying at home which likely means that obesity is skyrocketing faster than any one could have possibly dreamed of also.
So, fragile snowflakes need to kill them selves and OD?
No one is stuck at home, everyone can go out and exercise. Plus, obesity is a function of consumption, not exercise, a person can sit on the sofa all day and not be obese. Obesity was rising before this, but now you want to blame the virus for it?
Sorry, zero care for drug users, they were users before this pandemic, seems they are continuing. People killing themselves, not feel sorry for them, but they needed mental help that they obviously did not get before the pandemic. To blame this on the virus and actions is like blaming the gun for someone shooting themselves.
