Of course Trump & his lawyers are claiming "immunity".. It's the only way they can keep him out prison! Trump a criminal, his TAX will prove it!

Supreme Court appears likely to reject Trump immunity claim:

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Tuesday appeared likely to reject President Donald Trump’s claim that he is immune from criminal investigation while in office. But the court seemed less clear about exactly how to handle subpoenas from Congress and the Manhattan district attorney for Trump’s tax, bank and financial records.
The court’s major clash over presidential accountability could affect the 2020 presidential campaign, especially if a high court ruling leads to the release of personal financial information before Election Day.

I'll let you in on a little secret, lawyers make all kinds of dubious arguments because sometimes they stick.

Are you suggesting the IRS is so inept they would not be able to determine criminal activity over multiple audits?

That’s not what the IRS does. All they are checking is to see if the requisite amount of taxes are paid. They are so understaffed that they couldn’t dedicate the time to search for evidence of criminality or conflicts of interest even if they wanted to.

You destroy your own credibility with this statement.

I listened to the arguments. No one made that argument. However, the justices (save the “wise” latina woman) seem very skeptical that the multiple, identical subpoenas from various political government entities was anything more than presidential harassment.

Trump's tax records not being made public is pretty much irrelevant. The IRS has all of them. If Trump did something wrong, they will have brought it to his attention. The IRS is and unforgiving ***** of a federal agency. They're not going to let millions of dollars in tax revenue just go missing. Trump can fully expect his taxes to get picked over very carefully. Anything in his tax records that were ever a problem -- if that ever happened -- were already corrected. How do I know? Because they'd have hauled Trump off to prison for tax evasion decades ago if Trump had failed to pay his taxes at any point. He could never have become president with that felony on his record. Is there evidence of some other criminal behavior in those records? Again, the IRS has the records. The FBI operates as the enforcement arm of the Department of Treasury. The IRS and FBI will have already checked. It's in their best interests to keep America's wealthiest honest.

Federal tax laws being the complicated mess that they are, it's pretty easy to make mistakes. If mistakes were made then the IRS will have notified Trump. If he had failed to fix something, they'd have arrested him for tax evasion.

So what do we gain from making the tax records made public? I guess you get lots of fodder for making up scandals out of thin air by misreporting the details, but what legitimate good reason is there for making tax records public?

So, what other criminal activity are you expecting to garner from his tax returns besides possibly not paying them to your satisfaction?

Is there any recourse for Trump after this if he loses?

We all know that Trump's end-game here is to drag this out until after the election. But if he loses the SCOTUS fight, is that it? Is there any other act of desperation or appeal he can try to delay releasing his tax returns even longer?

Or will he be forced to hand over his tax returns to federal investigators in SDNY?

The Manhattan DA outlined the scope of the Grand Jury’s purview in his papers at all three levels of this case. I’m not going to spoon-feed you what you couldn’t be bothered to learn before throwing in your two cents. This is publicly-available information that’s has nothing to do with my subjective satisfaction.
