Perfect post for this thread - long on bombast, short on substance.

Man, imagine you guys during WWII - black-outs, rationing, material shortages...

"I am NOT letting the government decide how much sugar I buy in a week! Where does it say that in the constitution?"

"Blackout? It is MY house, and MY lamp, and no one I know has even seen a U-boat! Nothing but a power trip!"

Eating at Applebees is as good a reason for re-education as any.

Restaurant customer lists needed to trace contacts, but will remain private, Inslee says

Gov. Jay Inslee on Tuesday explained why the state is requiring people to give their name and contact information when dine-in restaurant service resumes at half-capacity.

“If you have somebody who becomes sick and they were sitting right next to a person at a restaurant, to be able to identify that person could be very valuable for their health to try to save their life,” Inslee said at a press conference.

“We want to be able to open restaurants. People are anxious for that and we want to do some common-sense things so that if someone does have an infection at a restaurant, we will be able to save other patrons’ lives,” he said. “We ought to be able to do both.
Continuing on...

By the end of this week, Washington will have 1,371 contact tracers trained and ready to work — 630 from the state and local health departments, 390 from the state Department of Licensing and 351 from the National Guard.

On April 15, Inslee said rapid testing, isolation and contact tracing are some of the efforts needed to be implemented before social distancing measures can be relaxed.

He repeated that message Tuesday.

“If we do not succeed in this, what you might think of as the second stage of our efforts, this virus could jump right back out and bite us,” he said.

Contact tracing involves interviewing people with positive COVID-19 tests to identify who they’ve been in contact with, getting those people tested and then making sure they isolate themselves and their families.

...Data collected by contact tracers will be accessible only to health care professionals and “will not be shared,” he said.
And then I think back to what that loser in Ventura County said about "we will" quarantine them, "we will" make sure they are staying quarantined, and "we will" check up on them every single day - up to and moving them out of their homes, if they, the government, deem it necessary.

Yes, one is WA state, one is CA - I'm sure that will make some people feel all safe and gooey inside, but unlike you, I don't trust our government that much.

Remember, at the very beginning, we were told it was just a few weeks so that we wouldn't overwhelm the hospitals? Remember that?

Now it's turned into this, and some people on here, (on both sides), keep making excuses for it.

You were warned: If you give government that much power, they are very reluctant to give it back.

Now we're going to have lists, and tracing, and monitoring. We've already had snitches being paid, and far more down time than we were ever told we were going to have - and some of you all still have faith in the government.

You know, often times when I've read about how someone went to another country to "prove" that the natives there aren't as bad as they've been made out to be, and then the natives capture, sometimes torture, and kill those people, typically in brutal ways, if they ever had that second of thought, right before they died, that they were so very wrong, and should have listened when people warned them.

I'm going to wonder the same thing when all of those right now who are falling in line with whatever their governments tell them to do "for the common good" under the guise of "safety", have their last moments at the hands of their trusted mommy government.

This PLANdemic has introduced some new phrases into the political and social lexicon.

Social distancing

Social isolation

Asymptomatic carrier

And, now we have Contact Tracing.

This is a push to a "new normal" as we are in a period of destabilization.

Just like Yuri Bezmenov told us back in....1984

Aren't we all supposed to be acting like asymptomatic carriers all the time anyway? To protect those elderly family members?

What protects anyone from the very next thing they touch, really?

Oh yeah, I watched that video a long time ago. There's a lot of truth in what he says. We've seen some of it already, but I'm sure the typical blow hard will come on here and call him a "disgraced" former KGB agent, or "discredited" former KGB member, or whatever stupid spiel they can come up with - not once ever refuting a thing he says.

I don't think you are going to gain much support praising the government during the times of WWII. What was praised during that time was the sacrifice of the people who died in battle, not the actions of overstepping politicians. FDR while praised by the progressives is despised by most who support limited government.

Next you will be telling me Wilson was a great president who had great admiration for people of color.
During the time when the nation was faced with a crisis and a majority found it in themselves to deal with it. I'm perfectly aware of FDR's shortcomings, but you may have noticed that I picked a coupe of specific examples of citizens suffering inconvenience for - dare I say it? - the common good.

Because our testing capacity wasn't up to the task.

It is and will always be a numbers game. If we can do contact tracing, we can target the isolation requirements - find the transmission pathways, test and do temporary isolation, instead of the one-size-fits-all method we've been forced to use.

As effective and much less intrusive, unless some spoiled brats decide that government is somehow going to abuse information about where they get their well-liquor margaritas.
