Republicans in 2016 were on the ropes.

Many Americans felt left behind by globalization. And honestly, many were. Trump was a privileged person who felt sympathy for people who played a "rigged game" and lost.

However MAGA is turning into MAHA, Make America Hate Again. That's sad.

The reason is because instead of trying to improve themselves, people who voted for Trump such as myself decided to try to rig the game in their favor as they perceived the game was rigged against them. They were game playing rather than following their heart.

Trump's biggest mistakes were his exclusivism. He wanted to exclude immigrants from sharing in the American dream. That is a similar sentiment to a labor union, and is one of the reasons the high income middle class has declined in size and power.

It is so sad that people who seek power to fix things, end up becoming trapped by that power.

A red wave election would be for the best. Turn over the power of the purse to those who are more fiscally responsible (though we all know they aren't actually responsible themselves) and give us a few years to get things going again before putting Democrats back in power to screw things up again.

Both parties need to start representing the bulk of their members and not allowing the extreme fringes being their voice. To say a "red wave" would be more "fiscally responsible" is bogus as corruption always comes up as we are seeing with the current investigation.

Well, it's just a fact that it would be "more" fiscally responsible, but that doesn't mean that Republicans are actually fiscally responsible....they aren't. It's just that Democrats are so laughably irresponsible it makes Republicans appear that way by comparison.

If you are broke but one person suggests you by a new Lamborghini and another suggests you buy a new Honda Civic....neither is the responsible option, but one is a hell of a lot more responsible than the other.

Best thing, in all seriousness. Trump wins a solid majority in the electoral college, like he did last time, and also wins the popular vote. The democrats are shown that their policies are out of touch, and it forces them to move to the center and actually work with the president.

Not sure where you have been. Trump didn't need a "few years to get things going." The economy was in great shape when Obama left office. 4.7% unemployment. Nearly 3% GDP before the 2016 campaign kicked off. Market grew 150% over 8 years. There was nothing to get going. It was already going. Other than dropping the unemployment rate by 1 point (which is awesome by the way, good on you Trump Administration) - market growth slowed under Trump even before taking COVID-19 into account. GDP hasn't hit 3%, let alone the 4,5 and 6% Trump claimed it would. And Trump's deficits (even pre-COVID) put Obama's deficits to shame.

If you are talking economy, Democrats have a great track history over the last 28 years.

Trump was gifted a healthy economy by nearly all measures. He rode Obama's coattails and it wasn't until Trump started pushing buttons and pulling levers that the economy slowed.

Well of course it was, Republicans had the power of the purse and they forced a bit of sanity on Obama. When you kick Pelosi out of the Speaker chair, good things always happen.
