A few weeks ago, ventilators were the new "cabbage patch doll". Every governor and medical professional was clamoring for them. Andy Cuomo went on TV day after day whining that the the bad orange man was withholding ventilators from him. We were told by virtually every media outlet that the ventilator shortage was going to kill people...and that very shortage was one of the major arguments used to justify draconian "lockdown" policies that have destroyed our economy.
In response to the input from the medical "experts" and public outcry, Trump used the draconian Defense Production Act to force private companies to shift from producing their own products to producing ventilators. They have been in production for some time now. https://www.kokomotribune.com/news/g...6ccd77519.html
Why aren't we seeing this daily on the MSM? After all, they told us just how critical they were for weeks. Could it be that the "experts" were wrong on the need for ventilators, just as they have been on nearly every point during this outbreak? Could it be due to the fact that front-line healthcare workers have figured out that ventilator use is not just "unnecessary", but in many cases, it is in fact killing patients?
I'm curious about a few things.
Prior to this, ventilator companies like Ventec produced 100 or so per month. So we spent who knows how much forcing GM (and Ford IIRC) to tool up and mass produce these-to the tune of thousands a month. The market now is flooded, with more of these rolling off the line. We have more ventilators than we will need for the next decade. So...just what are we going to do with them? And just what is going to happen to Ventec and other companies that had been producing them...now that the market is flooded? Will they be one more piece of the economic devastation puzzle created by the actions of our politicians?
Just why do those in the MSM seem to be suppressing this "success story"?
Andy Cuomo has been whining that he needed 15,000 ventilators right away. Has he purchased them yet, now that they are available?
As we've learned more about the illness and how to treat it with existing therapies and technologies, ventilation is no longer used as early as it was in the early days of the pandemic. Thanks to the shut down, we were able to flatten the curve to prevent a huge wave of people going to the ICU at once. We also went into this thinking about 20% of people who get covid-19 ended up in the hospital. Thankfully, that was an assumption due to asymptomatic cases and lack of testing and it seems like that number is lower.
1. Hospitals in hotspots have stopped getting hit as hard as measures to combat the infection rate have helped somewhat.
2. Medical fiwley has evolved understanding of the virus treatment and realized that ventilator treatment isn't the best course of treatment in various patient scenarios. Proning and other oxygen therapies have been found to be helpful.
What an average layperson like you needs to understand is that scienrific understanding of something new is not in a static state of perfection at the start. It starts with hypotheses; then as data is collected, hypotheses are proven or disproven. New treatments and new hypotheses take place. This is how the scientific method evolves toward better knowledge and better results. We should all try to be more like this on our own evaluations of the world.
Because 80% of the Covid patients that went on them died anyway.
Yep... probably because they were being used improperly in many cases.
It's about providing oxygen, not increasing pressure. If you watched Boris Johnson after his recovery, he made specific note about how much better he got when he received the necessary oxygen.
Because hardly anyone is in the ICU....even in red states that relaxed their lockdowns weeks ago.
The evidence is irrefutable, this virus presents virtually zero risk.
it's already killed 6% of those who tested positive. that's nowhere near "zero risk". I do so wish that folks on "my side" wouldn't type stuff like that.

Irrefutable? Zero risk?
Lol...do you live in Disneyland or something? Seriously, I CANNOT with you people!
