Brazilians are jubilant over a video just released in which Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro goes ballistic at Governors & the Supreme Court for the tyrannical coronavirus lockdown. He is deeply concerned about the prospect of dictatorship in Brazil and is demanding that everyone be armed. "I want everyone armed. Because an armed people will never be enslaved." ~Jair Bolsonaro

Bolsonaro is such a theatrical drama queen. His chattering on about a potential dictatorship is like a mafia member complaining about crime.

Just your typical populist playbook stuff: deflect and blame to cover up your own misdeeds.

As has often been said about Brazil, "It is the country of the future and it always will be."

That is sadly all too true with Bolsonaro at the helm of the ship.

It's looking like Brazil is about to experience the worse case scenario. There have been some lockdown measures, but big chunks of the population are unable to practice social distancing because of the housing conditions, and very few have access to masks. This is potentially scary stuff that could get ugly. We'll see.

Good Lord, you support this lunatic? Right now Brazil is stuck with a rightwing nut job who makes Trump look somewhat normal, by comparison.

Of course, some people can't find Brazil on a map, but cheer when anyone says MOAR GUNS!

Quote:
HALF OF ALL GLOBAL deaths from gun violence occur in six countries in the Western Hemisphere, according to a new study that exposes trends in fatal shootings, particularly in the cause of death.

Brazil had the most firearm-related deaths in 2016 with 43,200, followed by the United States with 37,200 and Mexico with 15,400, according to data compiled by the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. The study, entitled "Global Mortality From Firearms, 1990-2016," was published on Tuesday in the Journal of the American Medical Association and offers a new glimpse into a highly charged issue that in many instances, including in the U.S., can suffer from incomplete information.

Well, the purpose of the 2nd amendment in the US was to be the best defense against tyranny ever gaining a foot hold...but the founding fathers forgot to factor in one thing...Whether the public would allow themselves to be duped by tyrannical leaders and instead of arming themselves to fight tyranny, they welcome it in with open arms!

Is the previous leftist Obama friendly leader still in prison for corruption? I'm sure she would have been all too happy to lock her people inside their chit shacks and take all their guns away.

Brazil is probably better off with Bolsonaro in charge, although that doesn't say much. Brazil has always been a nation of the future, and always will be. But for today, tomorrow, and the immediate future, it's a crap hole full of brutal violence, human suffering, torture, mob rule, extreme uncertainty etc, to put it lightly. The only thing criminals respect is force, and the current leadership is far more willing to take on these problems head on, instead of forcing their people to endure and suffer at the hands of criminals and thugs.

Have the critics ever seen what a favela looks like? They have far bigger problems than COVID-19 and Bolsonaro .
