It's not just small businesses....a lot of New York is going to figure out they can work from home....he's going to have huge buildings going empty
...and the snowball from that is going to work it's way all the way down
including his tax base
You seem to think that will only be the case in NY, that will be true in every state that has “huge buildings”.
Cuomo solution to business closing down is extend the close down even longer.
Gov. Cuomo is a one man death panel !!!
He wanted to be many things to all people typical of multiple-personality-disorder !!! Mommy and daddy, grief councilor, scientific interpreter, authoritarian dictator, etc....

Are you suggesting that NYC, with less than 20% of the population infected, 16000 dead, and not enough equipment or beds, should have stayed open?
Are you suggesting the rest of the country with next to no testing should have stayed open so they could be the next NYC? We're opening up slowly now across the country because we are in a better position for testing, PPE, and contact tracing so we can keep the curve flattened. That wouldn't have been possible a month ago.
The rest of the nation was NEVER going to be the next NYC pandemic.
So what would you have him do. Hospitals were overloaded with cases. Funeral homes were overloaded with bodies. Central Park had tents set up. Should he have just done nothing and let people die. How does that help the economy.

Cuomo sent over 4300 Covid positive cases back to nursing homes across the state. The Western New York, Finger lakes and upstate Adirondack area hospitals were not overwhelmed and we actually would have had less cases if these patients would have stayed in hospitals. Then there was DiBlasio ignoring the shut down of NY City schools even after 2 teachers tested positive - even the City Council and teacher's union demanded they be shut but Cuomo did nothing when DiBlasio defied the order further spreading the virus from the children to their aging relatives.
Now let's talk about all those overwhelmed hospitals ect - Cuomo asked for more ventilators and got them as well as supplies they expected to need immediately from the Federal gov't - then a ship for additional support. This was after Cuomo refused to buy the needed ventilators and supplies that the Health Dept said we should have in stock in case of a disaster back in 2015.
Cuomo should have closed state lines so the hundreds of thousands of NYers didn't end up going out of state taking the virus with them to other parts of the nation. He didn't institute a 14 day quarantine for anyone entering the state like lots of other states did. With the shut down - he could have housed necessary workers in hotels so that they could shut down the subways.
While he signed an order making it mandatory that everyone wear a face mask while in public - he himself didn't wear one at either visit to the Roswell Cancer Institute in Buffalo and yet all any one on the left is complaining about is Trump.
And to answer someone else's question - yes - he is still having his daily conferences but I don't watch as he now is shifting the blame to everyone else.
