Do they hope to find that he took advantage of every single tax loophole like all millionaires do or will they find that he missed one and it will be the talk of the daily news "Trump paid too much in taxes in 2017!"

Who cares about his taxes. He was a private well to do citizen that entered the political world, turned it on its ear and became the worlds punching bag all while taking a major pay cut.
I'm more concerned about how these career politicians on both sides of the aisle enter politics as an average citizen and retire millionaires.
I care about having his taxes made public if he committed serious crimes. As should any American who cares about the rule of law. Trump is not above the law. He is not our King.

I think you are trying to deflect and defend him when i think you should try to see what the truth is.

Logical?

Is it COVID or about the election to gain back power.
Aren't you curious about money laundering of Russian oligarchs with the help of Deutsche Bank? Where do you think he got the money to buy those golf resorts?

Well, no tax crimes, serious or otherwise, have been committed, so we'll put you down for "doesn't care if Trump releases his tax returns. Your next 3 sentences are accurate, but have nothing to do with Trump's taxes. It's as if you had a bunch of anti-Trump TDS rhetoric floating around in your head and you just had to get it out.

Nobody is deflecting anything. Trump isn't legally obligated to share his taxes with the general public. It's that simple. If you don't like it, work to have the law changed. Otherwise, be quiet.

Your statements misconstrue and misunderstand my points as well as legal reality. No there is no law that says he has to release his taxes. However if investigators/prosecutors can prove he committed crimes then the evidence produced will become public as court proceedings move forward.

I would suppose that you tell people to be quiet when they have different opinions from yours. That says much about you.

I'm not a Trump supporter, but I do support everyone's right to privacy. Are you suggesting a person's rights depend on whether or not you like said person? How is that even practical?

The second part of your statement is pure speculation. Do you seriously think a person of Trump's wealth isn't audited regularly by the IRS? Do you think you're smarter than the IRS? The public, including you, couldn't begin to understand a complex tax return.

It's not a difference of opinion. The FACT is that Trump is not legally required to release his tax returns. Either refute that with actual facts, or stop bringing it up.

Tax returns of the very wealthy are audited and studied in detail, including Trumps for any violation of the Law. What you want is a public examination of Tax Returns which to lynch someone on. No the President is not "above" the Law but they also deserve all the protections you or I would get..

Anyone who has any substantial income or investments uses strategies to save on their taxes which are perfectly legal but seem somehow shady. I would argue we need to focus on getting rid of such so called "loopholes" which people and companies can use to reduce their taxes is far more important. Being tax time a CPA friend who works for a major firm described to me one client whom her firm has dozens of people working on their taxes just to legally save every dime. Not something really available to the avg. Joe.

Politicians are asking for the privilege of leading the country. They should be held to a higher standard. Joe Sixpack should have a right to his privacy, he is not asking for power or leadership role. Truly doubt some foreign govt has slightest interest in bribing him since he can grant no favors. I wouldnt vote for ANYBODY that wasnt open about their financial dealings with foreign powers. Thats just common sense.
