I was at a Lowes the other morning waiting in a line about 8 people deep for my turn to go in. The state is only allowing a 40% capacity. A guy comes walking around some parked cars sees the line and flips out. He screams something like "what the F***, we are people not cattle, F***" and he turns around and leaves.
Alvin's convenience store in Manchester, KY (pop. 1,200)
who would have thought.
I wonder if Jay Bob's truck stop on the other side of town will allow masks?
Guess since they've had a whopping 4 positive cases in the county they should mandate masks, flatten the curve! 4 is 2 two many, wonder how many ICU beds and ventilators they have at the ready? They apparently don't give a flip about their elderly, how callous, EVERYONE should follow the NYC model cuz it just takes one person ....
Personally I feel much better walking into a business and seeing their employees are practicing safety, mask, etc! Those who don't just tell me me most likely they don't at all on any level, while at home or in public! ...I avoid these types!
No masks allowed: stores turn customers away in US culture war
You really should stop shouting in your threads, it is very rude.
The convenience store that you think is so disgusting is located in a county that has a grand total of four Covid cases in the entire county and zero covid related deaths. Most likely, if they knew where you were from, they would want to keep you out of their store as you are far more likely to be a carrier than anyone in the town.
I don't believe it is a violation of our freedoms for a store to insist that customers wear a mask. It is their property.
Like me, you must have misread the headline. This is about stores BANNING masks on their customers.
So I believe that businesses have a right to require masks on their property. And I suppose they have the right to ban them. But if I'm worried about Covid-19, why would I want to frequent a store where no one is following safe practices?

I still see a shrinking minority of people shopping without masks. Most wear them. There are fools who make a "thing" about not wearing one but they are both stupid and disrespuectful. I have no problem with them being banned or with masked people disrespecting them. They have had plenty of time to acquire or create a mask. If you are in a public place where you cannot maintain a six foot buffer than you need a mask. That is not hard. Almost half the states are making progress on readiness to reopen. It fluctuates every day at this point.
Here is an interesting monitoring site for state progress toward readiness to reopen (not whether they intend to reopen regardless of readiness).

The screaming guy is a moron, but I'm sure he doesn't realize it. The government sets capacity limits based on safety factors. Usually, it's based on the number of available emergency exits. If the number of people inside the store had met that limit, the store would have been legally obligated to make others wait outside. Would he still have gotten up in arms about it? Is it OK for the government to set a capacity limit based on emergency exits but not on physical distancing?
As for stores prohibiting customers from wearing masks, I think they're morons too. But I support their right to do so, assuming that the governing authorities have not mandated mask wearing. If these stores are violating the government's orders, though . . . well, maybe they're also violating the government's orders about having unblocked emergency exits and working sprinkler systems and so on. I'll give those stores a hard pass.
I assume the store has a right to turn away customers wearing masks. That's fine. I would steer clear of that store.
