Most topics discussed here are about people who serve 2, 4 or 6 year terms. Federal Judges hold lifetime terms. A 50 year term is possible.

The Dems (including Schumer) know the weight of this, which is why Chucky's :

This article claims "more than 190 Judges appointed", the real number is 196 (see wiki). Plus, 11 more are pending.

Which court is the 2nd most powerful, after the SCOTUS? It's the court with the smallest land mass jurisdiction...It's the Federal Appeals court in Washington DC. This seat has fed more Supreme Court justices than any other, so whomever holds that seat, is most likely to become the next member of the SCOTUS.

Earlier this month, Trump nominated a 37-year young Judge to this post, and it's pending Senate approval, which thx to Dems, has become a formality.

When Ginsburg is gone, Justin Walker is most likely to replace her:

If there are any election disputes come November 3rd, Justice Walker will play a major role in the outcome.

You do know the next step is court packing? Both parties have been one upping each other for decades. What makes you think that will ever end?

McConnell and Trump have swung the courts pendulum heavily back towards the Republican's side. If Trump is re-elected, by the time he's gone, the Federal Courts will be mostly made up of Republican picks.

The 2 highest Federal Courts, the SCOTUS and Appeals Courts will be solidly Replublican for many years to come.

Most of this is due to Harry Reid removing the fillibuster for fed court appointments. Thanks Harry!

This is not a sexy topic here, but its a lot larger & more important than most other topics that get a lot more play.

The Judicial branch is boring until it comes to a SCOTUS confirmation hearing...then people pay attention.

Or, one of the judges makes a decision that determines the outcome of a national election.

You dont actually believe that at some point in the future the Dems will hold the power and pack said courts to their own liking?

As someone once said: Elections have consequences. No complaining or crying allowed.

This is exactly what happened during FDR's terms in office, along with HST's - 20 years. The federal court's leftward tilt did not begin to swing back until the late 1990's, early 2000's.

Now court packing would be an interruption of the natural ebb and flow of politics. The revered Franklin Delano Roosevelt thought about enlarging The Supreme Court, but wisely demurred to the opposition.

Court packing is totally different than filling vacancies. Court packing is enlarging a court, The Supreme Court, as example. Roosevelt thought about it, but wisely demurred when confronted with opposition. For the good of the nation, it is hope that all political leaders will exercise that same strength of character.

As Obama said it himself, he is lazy. Glad Trump benefited on this.
