I didn't read anything there about the tests being done with damp cloth. That entire article supported the use of normal homemade cloth masks. But as I said earlier, I knew you weren't actually asking with an open mind.
Some people prefer to (possibly) err on the side of caution and wear masks (understanding that ANY barrier is better than NO barrier), and others simply think wearing masks is stupid and they're not going to do it. I don't know if there is any amount of documentation or proof to change minds on this.

10 per day...the lack of understanding is strong in that one.

I would rather read posts that start out that way than to read (debatable) opinions stated as absolute 100% fact.

Prove it.

99% survival rate. 80% asymptomatic. No consensus on facts relating to masks, transmission, infection or many other characteristics of the virus.

It has nothing to do with the president or political affiliation. It has to do with believing that wearing a mask in certain public situations actually has merit.
I do not live in a high density area, I am not sick, infection rate is very low here. Every study I read indicates wearing a mask is a last resort and might slightly reduce droplets exiting my mouth/nose of the virus that has a 99% survival rate and is 80% asymptomatic.

If they told you there was a 2% chance that you could save a life by not driving would you stop driving? If they told you wearing a burka in public would reduce your chances of being raped by 2% would you wear one?

It isn't a right left thing, even though the Left will attempt to play it that way to damage Trump in the election, as in Trump and anyone who supports him are not wearing masks in order to kill people, or something equally absurd.

I am not right or left, and I find the wearing of the masks to be nothing more than psychologically pleasing placebo and virtue signal. They are not stopping anything other than people's fear of going outside and recommencing economic activity. Because at this point, COVID-19 has become like many other political topics, and a hundred people have a hundred totally different takes on everything about it, most of which is based on emotion and not data.

I wear a mask because I don't want to have to tell some jerkweed scold to f**k right off for saying something to me for not wearing one. I don't buy into the fear of the virus nor the efficacy of the silly piece of cloth to protect me from that which is microscopic and can bypass the mask easily.

Put it this way...would the same masks people wear to protect from the microscopic virus be effective breathing filters in a toxic atmosphere like smoke or noxious gas? Would you trust one for going into a burning building or handling hazmat? Probably freaking not because it is absurd to think that silly piece of cloth stops smoke and chemical particles...but for some magical reason, it can stop a microscopic virus? If there isn't an airtight seal plus a filtering agent or artificial atmosphere...you aren't stopping the transmission of anything microscopic or airborne.

So the masks are a symbol. They say it is safe to come outside, go shopping, restart the economy. That's propaganda and nonsense, but if it gets the economy rolling again, let people do their dumbass virtue signaling. Again, I wear mine to prevent idiots from being hollered at. It has been good for that so far. But at no point do I think it stops the transmission of an airborne virus. Not that stupid.

Not happening
I mean, they've long been normal in East Asia. It's really not a big deal over there.

I think it's because they don't want to look like the disgusting, selfish. idiotic pigs that they are who can't be bothered to cover their faces when they sneeze or cough, without the government telling them how not to live like repulsive swine.
Um, no lady. I'm absolutely militant about proper hygiene and properly covering sneezes and coughs, with or without masks. However, CV19 can be spread even without visible symptoms, which is when the masks particularly help.

.......
as a last resort by perhaps filtering less than 50% of droplets from a cough of a person who may or may not be infected with a virus that has a 99% survival rate and is 80% asymptomatic.
