Trump isn't proposing to overturn Sec 230 of the Communications Decency Act.

Biden is:

“Section 230 should be revoked, immediately should be revoked, number one. For Zuckerberg and other platforms,” Biden said in the interview published Friday.https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/17/bide...ction-230.html

His reasons are different. That protects a site like this one from being held liable from what users post. He wants to remove those protections. "Biden <insert some slander here>" would make the site owner liable. This would be impossible task for sites that have little resources and could make a site like C-D disappear. Sites like Twitter, Facebook and Youtube may have the resources to police it but they would be significantly different than they are today.

The argument being made by Republicans is they can't simultaneously hide behind these protections and be engaging in substantial editing of content because they have crossed the line into publisher.

Whatever the case those protections need to remain in place or the internet as you know it goes away. Sites like Twitter engaging in significant editing of content should have to give up that protection.

Yes, the Republican position is reasonable and the position of Biden is extreme.

Just wondering where the people bashing Trump are on the position of Biden.
