Being unionized has very little to do with cops feeling like they can do whatever they want.
It's lack of training, refresher training, and Qualified Immunity.
Q.I. has given countless officers a free pass to abuse for too long. This Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court has the chance to reconsider this doctrine, allowing officers to be held to the same constitutional standards we all must live by.
W/O unions, IMO, good cops turn in bad cops, arrest them on the spot when cops commit crimes. Use force against fellow cops when needed.
Why aren't we seeing good cops witnessing the actions of bad cops acting as witnesses for the prosecution?.
How many good teachers rat out bad teachers. How many good lawyers rat out bad lawyers. How many good doctors rat out bad doctors. How many good postal carriers rat out bad postal carriers.

If a cop truly wants to stand for respect for the law, there is nothing a rogue cop should fear more than another cop.
Why in the world do good cops protect bad cops?

Why aren't we seeing good cops stop bad cops when the latter use excessive force, in real time?
I know most cops are good people. Good people do not look the other way when witnessing bad actions. Even when bad actions occur at the hands of folks wearing uniforms just like your own.
They are brainwashed into the Brotherhood. All for one, one for all. Don't you dare go against the flow or else. Group-think, obey orders, tow the line. They are a rabid dog on a leash, waiting for the order to attack. First thing tjay would fix this? Abolish police unions.
