In this case I would say yes, give it a try, and I would still advise Minneapolis VS smaller places.
If you already met ppl from Wisconsin and Minnesota, and they were more to your liking, then it's yet another indicator, because I think in these states, when people *click* interracially, ( if they ever do,) the ties are more genuine and meaningful.

And since all these conversations are coming in the context of the recent event - I've looked into George Floyd criminal background back in Texas; he was involved in the armed robbery among other things.

He broke into woman's house, threatened her with a weapon and searched her house for drugs and money.
With that being said however, he could have raped and killed that woman, but he didn't; he never overstepped the boundary that separates man from beast.
And TO ME ( to me personally at least,) this is very telling.
The way I see it, is that he had certain redeeming qualities, and that he definitely deserved another chance elsewhere, other than American South.

I think people around him in Minneapolis saw these qualities too; his girl-friend of three years ( White) is in tears, one of his former employers could hardly hold tears back when talking about him - so the ties were genuine.

So if you will be able to "click" with the locals, more power to you.

Just be aware that Somali community is a thing of its own; that's yet "another culture within a culture."
I look at it like this. I'm part of the Black population. I know I'm going to face prejudice. At the same time, I have to live my life. What has worked for other people hasn't always worked for me. What has worked for me hasn't worked for others. It took me a long time to figure out where I could fit in living in Georgia.

Well, some of the people I met from Minnesota and Wisconsin were nice (I went to college in the suburbs of Atlanta, alot of out of staters moved there). I can't recall a Minnesotan or Wisconsinite I didn't get along with (my father is from Wisconsin).

Floyd had a criminal record, but was able to turn his life around. And that he managed to find a niche for himself in Minneapolis says that he was able to make it there.

I know about the Somali community in the TC area. From what I've heard, there are tensions between Black Americans and Somalis.

You mentioned that Black Americans would have problems fitting with the Germanic culture in the Midwest. I started thinking about how I would fit into all of this. A big part of me has wanted to return to the west coast for years (I spent part of my childhood in the Pacific Northwest). I also have a few relatives in the Midwest (Illinois and Minnesota).

The Democrats who run Minneapolis and Minnesota have completely and utterly failed the people there. Nobody with a brain could possibly vote for Democrats again after witnessing this debacle. Walz is a joke and the mayor is even worse. Sad.

No, they have failed Black people. Actually, in most major cities regardless of political party, those who run the government aren't that helpful for Blacks. Blacks finish last no matter who is in charge. This is why there are so many gangs in North Omaha, a Republican-ran city. Nebraska is a red state, and Omaha is ran by Republicans. Blacks in Omaha are among the poorest and most segregated Black populations in America. Riots are starting in Omaha too.

Oklahoma has one of the highest Black homicide rates in America. A lion's share of those homicides are taking place in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Republican cities in a Republican state.

My post wasn't about black people. It was about all the people in Minneapolis, whatever their color. Please get down off the cross, your schtick is getting verrrrry old.

Well, the title is "Solid Blue State of Minnesota is Racist", and alot of people who are rioting are Black. People say that Democrats have failed Minneapolis. No. Whites are doing just fine in Minneapolis. Other groups are doing alright. Black people are the ones doing worse than anyone else. And it's not a Minnesota problem. It's not a Democrat problem. This crap is all over America. I'll get off my cross when I say so, and I don't care if you think my "shtick" is getting old. I'm going to bring this up because it's relevant to this top. If you have a problem with it, too bad.

Minnesota has a higher standard of living that states like Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, South Carolina, Kentucky. Of course Utah, a red state, also has a higher standard of living than the other states I mentioned. I see it like this. Alot of people are too partisan to understand that red vs blue doesn't have that much to do with it. Each state needs to be examined individually.

Their President threw over 100,000 American in prison without due process based on ethnicity during WW2.

Democrats voted for all 4 Civil Rights Act in a lower percentage than republicans

Every single Jim Crow law was passed by a democratic legislature. The republicans didn't gain control of the Southern Congress until the early 1990s.

George Wallace the known bigot, would have won the democratic nomination for President in 1972 except he was shot. He lost the popular vote by less than 3 percentage points and he didn't campaign in California or the last 1/3 of the primary.

Sen Byrd was probably in Congress longer than almost anyone and he recruited an entire klan chapter.

All the major hate groups got their start with democrats. The Klan, La Raza, and the Nation of Islam.
So when Democrats finally changed their ways, many of them changed registration to Republicans. And to this day explains why so few blacks are Republicans.

Of course said person will blame this on "Blacks are brainwashed".
