Outside in the real world, holding Confederate generals up as noble people to be honored is whitewashing history - almost literally, come to think of it. The romantic depictions of the antebellum South. The insistence on calling the Civil War a battle over "State's Rights". The use of freakin' plantations as romantic wedding venues.

You're not preserving history. You're preserving a propagandist lie about history.
