No governor who allowed protests in their state has the credibility to be telling any of his/her constituents that they cannot go to church after this.

I don't think so. It would be bad optics to "punish" the protestors by extending any shutdowns and would potentially send the message that their grievances are not legitimate.

The riots in a matter of days eliminated Covid-19 from the national discourse both mainstream media and also on this forum. It's unreal, in days 98% of Covid threads on this section of forum gone before your eyes, now 99% of topics is all riot related and going on strong for the next month at least.

I don't see how doubling down on the lockdowns could be perceived as "punishing" the protestors, since they obviously did not give a rip about the current lockdown in the first place. It didn't keep them from coming out in hordes.

from "I have not a heard a darn thing..." to "Pandemic is no longer on the front page."

once the riots subside and/or there is a significant change in the coronavirus situation it will be right back on top front page.

It's on the main page of the Washington Post every day. There's even a tiny link on Coronavirus coverage on Fox News. Doesn't fit the OP's narrative though, but we all knew that.

I don't think there's a narrative. The media has largely focused on the riots and not the virus. A week ago, the media was literally shaming people for not wearing a mask on the beach and this week, they're showing people riot, no social distancing or facemasks, and media has not been as focused on it this week.

The OP isn't making a narrative, but it seems that you are the one that seems to be creating a narrative in this case.
