This is what Donald would have said if he was a leader. He would say this even while bolstering police / National Guard response to rioters. A leader can and should be ready to decisively quell violence while also recognizing the importance of communicating to the broader populace with empathy.
Quote:
"The overwhelming majority of participants have been peaceful, courageous, responsible, and inspiring. They deserve our respect and support, not condemnation.
On the other hand, the small minority of folks who’ve resorted to violence in various forms, whether out of genuine anger or mere opportunism, are putting innocent people at risk, compounding the destruction of neighborhoods that are often already short on services and investment and detracting from the larger cause.
Let’s not excuse violence, or rationalize it, or participate in it. If we want our criminal justice system, and American society at large, to operate on a higher ethical code, then we have to model that code ourselves.
If, going forward, we can channel our justifiable anger into peaceful, sustained, and effective action, then this moment can be a real turning point in our nation’s long journey to live up to our highest ideals."
But, of course, Donald can't and won't say this. Instead we get more tough guy talk about "dominating them," which is the kind of stuff we'd expect to hear from some third-world dictator. Donald doesn't understand communication and empathy, nor does he understand anything about uniting or motivating people to a greater ideal. Instead he's stuck in an antiquated caricature of leadership where he's mainly concerned with himself and how tough he thinks he is.
I wish we had real leadership in the Oval Office. I hope to see it again one day.
There are THOUSANDS of democrats looting and burning down their own cities.
This is not a few bad apples among “peaceful protesters” smashing a couple of windows.
If you're a leader, you need to be able to voice a call to reason and unity to the broader populace even as you clamp down on violence. That's what the leader of a representative democracy with emotional intelligence does. And it matters. When you go down the cynical, divisive path of "all Democrats do this because they want to hurt my reelection, etc." that shows you're not up to being a real leader.
Donald may be in charge, but he'll never be a leader.

Call him whatever you want, but he’s president of the United States.
Take a seat and enjoy the show as he deals with the democrat terrorists.
Bingo. The DNC base are the thugs burning, looting, setting massive fires, etc.
We should never negotiate with terrorists like that.
They are enemy combatants.
Again, a leader would at least try to distinguish between violent looters, who should be dealt with forcefully as needed, and the rest of the populace's (especially Black) who are shocked and angered by the Floyd situation. In other words, it is possible to take decisive action and de-escalate tensions at the same time.
By painting everyone with the same brush, you are fueling the fire.
But it sounds like that what you want since you're coming close to advocating all-out war against everyone who isn't a Republican..
DJT has the distraction he wanted from his mishandling of the pandemic and the collapsed economy. He's going to fuel this fire for all it's worth. Don't expect conciliatory gestures and healing words. Now he's even threatening to turn the military on our cities.

Imagine if the awesome person who said that had been a POTUS, for 2 terms, was uniquely qualified to sympathize with the REAL protestors (hopefully not those looters!!), and had taken real, appropriate action when they were POTUS to stop this from happening again. Or even if, having been unable to do anything during 8 years as President, with their pen and their phone in tow, they magically had an answer before the 3rd incident in 90 days
Imagine.
