Nothing stops this market. Futures up today again. +174 as I write this. Moral of the story is, do not fight the Fed.

One thing is for certain, if we do not see any major uptick in Covid 19 deaths in NYC, LA, and other cities where the rioting took place, then that is the end of the shutdowns as we know them. They (mostly democrats) will not be able to keep the economy shut down as long as they would like. So the next two weeks are absolutely critical for whether or not the markets keep moving up, or reverse course.

Well BenInNY and I already explained why these riots will help prop the markets, not hurt them.

My guess is the hooliganism is less than 1% of total square miles of American soil. The rest is peaceful.

How about less politics in the investing forum?

Seems some are making a habit of mentioning stupid political **** all over this forum.

I don't view this as politics but as political risks. The financial markets may keep rising but this does not mean that they riots are not affecting the economy.

My comments are directly related to the effect of shutdowns on the stock market.
Don't like it..... I don't care. You're not going to shut me up.

You don't think politics is grappled tightly to investing ??

In my opinion, the Stock Market takes a forward-looking view. Mr Market apparently likes what he sees in 3Q20. As this current quarter's earnings come out it will likely be a bumpy ride. But I think the longer run will turn out OK, and a return to the general uptrend is in store.

I believe the run-up to the Election in November will actually bring a calming influence to the Market, as the contract in the 2 candidates is so stark. It will be refreshing to see the proposals that a real politician brings forth.

I agree. Several articles have recounted restaurants that invested big $$ over the past couple of weeks, cleaning out all the old rotted food in refrigerators, sanitizing, investing in new seating arrangements, training staff in new sanitizing protocols, disposable menus, etc etc etc...

... only to have the Antifa thugs co-opt the BLM protests to burn everything to the ground.

I'm so disappointed in America. Paying people not to work had never been a good idea in the past, but I sincerely hoped in the Pandemic that "this time it would be different."

Man, was I wrong.
