Here's my humble opinion.

DeBlasio is going to let his city turn into an absolute hellhole, and it will be on him.

Trump understands that if he commits troops to handle the situation, and something goes awry, it's on him.

Trump will wait it out. DeBlasio will either get it under control, or the People of New York will be screaming (begging) for Trump to act.

The Dems end up the dumbazz we all know they are, but in a widescreen sort of way, and Trump is the hero. (In a widescreen sort of way).

Remember the political component in this. But the decision really is the Dem mayor's decision to make, and I suppose he can request help anytime he feels he has lost control of his city.

Time will tell.

No, this is what the owners pay insurance for...all that money they pay each month goes to the insurance company...to protect them, in case something bad happens.

I realize the insurance companies just want business owners to pay their premiums on time each month, but then, they want them to just go away and not actually ever expect to get anything in return for all that money over the years!

The looting has only hit certain spots but it's all over the nation and business owners won't want to feel vulnerable to this in the future.

What has happened though is not a normal situation, this degree of it at least and in this way. The legitimate protesters have created an opportunity for looters.
what will be the political consequences of this?

Last night New York imposed an 11 p.m. curfew but the looters still came into midtown Manhattan and the Bronx. Mayor Diblassio said he is not going to bring in the National Guard because historically things have gone badly when outside forces are brought in. He says there are 36,000 police

Tonight there's an 8 p.m. curfew

Either the police may be able to handle it to some degree

or at some point:

If that happens and it quiets things down he will be seen as bringing order.
But if it goes bad....

And even if it quiets down at some point what will the longer term political ramifications be?
the goal of those pulling the rioters strings might be to get the backlash

Small business owners will either move from the hot spots or close down altogether. Even if insurance covers it, I can't imagine putting your heart and soul into it again. It would be less stressful to just go work for someone else.

If the looters start heading out into the "burbs" I suspect that we will start seeing armed citizens to stop them from their destructive path.

If the military has to come out as Trump suggested he would do if the mayors and Governors can't stop the destruction there is going to be hell to pay if one "protester" is hurt. The stupid kid could even trip over his saggy pants while fleeing the Police and it would be Trumps fault..

The backlash is going to be purely political because the elected don't seem to care about public and private property and more about giving the "protesters" room to destroy. It is not in the Democrat playbook to stop protesters...

Guess the first people who will be arrested and put on trial? Lots of tough talk here. I suggest if you shoot someone, you make sure they are inside your building in the act of looting, and you have a good lawyer.

Most insurance doesn’t cover riots.
