I confess to having a prejudice proven wrong. Quite happy to be proven wrong, in this instance.

At least you admit your Irrational prejudice. What if the Guard were actually needed to protect people instead of PR shots? Is it OK for them to DO THEIR JOB?

It was a peaceful protest, no reason to arm up. They were deployed, no violence occurred, end of story.

I have no idea why people want to continue to mix the peaceful protesters in with the rioters.

When in the hell did Trump ever advocate to "mow down citizens?"

I do not even like the guy, a horrible leader, but at least be truthful. All your kind does is make us people who oppose him look bad, because while people myself use facts in opposing, you make stuff up, undermining efforts to get truth and facts out there.

Tennessee National Guard puts down arms and stand with peaceful protesters.
Turncoats. Weak. Prime example of what's wrong in America.

It's true that opinions may vary, but it's not clear how you're responding to my post. Are you saying you wish that an American president would call in the army to shoot civilians?

Yes, we may be watching the demise of American society, but most people would consider that largely due to a president who questions the legitimacy of elections, improperly influences decisions where he should have no input, cozies up to authoritarian autocrats, trashes the concept of civility, favors money/profit (especially his own) over the public good, and undermines public faith in traditional institutions like the free press and the judicial system.

No, thanks to a self-important jackass who feels it necessary to gas and fire rubber bullets at peaceful protesters exercising a Constitutional right to clear a path for him to wave a Bible in front of a church as the main act of an asinine Dog & Pony show we are witnessing a free democratic society devolving to one headed by a spoiled little brat who delusionally believes himself more important than 200+ years of history.
