Obviously you've not been in high school or had a high schooler for a very long time. Kids graduate high school now without learning a single, practical thing.

There are a LOT of things no one howled about 30 years ago, but that was 30 years ago.

There should be an equal protection challenge for the monies designated only for "people of color". How will this work? What if the "people of color" are rich? What if non POC live in POC areas? It's all ridiculous.

This is hysteria at this point.

Floyd is confirmed to have had CV19. It appears based on reported that he allegedly spat at cops or threatened to do so, while claiming he had CV19. He was also high on fyntenol and meth. He had a criminal record. He allegedly also resisted arrest. According to the medical record, he died of a HEART attack (likely due to the drugs).

No one is arguing that the cop(s) didn't act excessively. However, calling the cops murderers, is ABSURD.

Indeed, and furthermore, he once pointed a gun at a pregnant woman. And nary a word from any prominent women's rights organizations about that.

I think that the idea to devote some resources to communities of color is a good one. But the idea to "defund the police", is just straightup crazy. We need to reform policing, not get rid of it. What does Mayor Garcetti think will happen if there's no law enforcement? Peace, harmony and justice will reign forever? I don't think so. Me thinks the Mayor needs some smelling salts.

A Councilperson agrees with the decision to divert funding from the LAPD:

"Continually growing the LAPD at the expense of other vital programs impedes our essential mission to deconstruct the systemic racism that African-Americans and other people of color experience daily in housing, employment, finance, health care, education, criminal justice, and policing. Increasing police spending while disinvesting in people hardens and deepens the divides and inequities in Los Angeles. It ignores the reality of the experiences that African-Americans and people of color have with law enforcement."

We've been devoting not "some resources" -- but a lot of resources -- to communities of color for 55 years. I think the U.S. as a whole has probably spent trillions, not billions, to communities of color over the past 55 years. With nothing very much to show for it.

This is extortion. Give us money, or we'll burn down the cities.

Ever read Thomas Wolfe's Bonfire of the Vanities? (Forget the movie, which is awful; read the book.) One character is a sleazy black Reverend/community activist, modeled on Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

This black Reverend admits he skimmed the money that stupid, rich white folk donated to his charity. He tells the donors' representative to look the other way, that they got their money's worth. That what they were really buying was "steam control." That if a boiler does not release its steam, it will explode. And that he controls the steam, to prevent an explosion (i.e., a riot).

That's what "reinvesting in communities of color" really is. Steam control.

We just had a boiler explosion in L.A.. Garcetti is trying to buy some steam control, so it won't happen again.

There are certain "communities of color" that do better, on the average, than whites, on the average. Are they gonna be getting the funding too?

Translation: We need to "deconstruct" systemic systems of systematic intersectional intersectionality of intersections.

I.e. we need to spend money on some people to the exclusions of others.
