So, will one payout be the end of it, or will subsequent generations demand their reparations too?
Answered this before. I suppose that what the study is being commissioned to answer. Goodness the U.S. should have done something before. Then we wouldn’t have some many generational Americans whining about people getting back what was stolen from them. No morals.
The moral case for reparations is a clear one. African-Americans have long suffered from a legacy of slavery and later discriminatory Jim Crow laws and institutional racism in housing, education and health that has helped to create and perpetuate an underclass of people. Enslaved Africans literally built this country, but far too many of their ancestors are still left out of its prosperity.
Make the moral case to punish 280 million people (the population of non-blacks in the US) for something none of them did.
Look at that 5 year old white kid and make your moral case for why that kid needs to be punished for you to be made whole. Because that's one of the many, many people who must be punished, since that kid isn't black and therefore represents oppression. Please, make your moral case for that. I'd love to hear it.
I've not stolen anything, much less millions, from anybody. So I have nothing to "give back".
I already have enough issues with seeing the way my tax dollar is abused, and the idiotic things it is spent on and wasted.
When the people burning and looting, and all those that have burned, looted, and murdered in the past, in the name of "affecting positive change" for themselves, pay reparations for those losses, we can talk.
At some point, the past is the past, and we move forward, or remain stuck in the same causality loop we've been in.

People of all races are burning and looting. So miss me with that argument. This country’s original sins are a curse and the people who are prolonging it are the ones who have been here for generations. Blame falls on them.
Reparations will do nothing to help the black community. You could give each household a 1 million dollar check today and in 1 year 99% of them would be broke still blaming white man for all their problems. The black community can only fix itself. Now, if you want to talk about helping black kids go to college (not pay all of it but a chunk of it) I would be open to that. I think getting education would help break the hopeless cycle the black culture is in right now of poverty, single motherhood, and thinking education is not cool (too white).
So basically you support stealing millions of dollars from people and not giving it back. The above is nothing but a bunch of excuses and stereotypes to avoid doing what is right. No different from these thieves and looters. No one said it has to be a check.
They don’t deserve a damn penny. You are what you make of your life. My friend is black, successfully double bachelors working on masters, he says these bills are sham and blacks should be ashamed of themselves for rioting and supporting this nonsense and reparation type bills. He paid for everything on his own.
Don’t need no damn handouts, and especially off me and other hard working people. I will never support handouts to any fricken race due to color.
It’s repulsive. Everyone born today’s society goes through same school, same education, same job processes etc. if you want to be a lazy piece of ****, white, black, Hispanic, etc it’s your choice. We aren’t paying you for something that happened hundreds of years ago that no one alive today ever experienced.

Guess you’re just in denial about American history. If you are older and have grandparents from this country, it’s a crying shame that you find my statements “outrageous.”
All across the country institutions are confronting their racist pasts, from cities removing Confederate memorials from public grounds and stadiums, newspapers apologizing for coverage that endorsed racism, and institutions, including Georgetown University, apologizing for profiting off of slavery. It’s time the country as a whole atoned for racism as well.
You should be embarrassed to express this level of cluelessness. Beyond that, just say that you support stealing millions from black people and never giving it back.
