What I am trying to figure out (and if there are any statisticians out there who could help) - is this: there are claims made in reports that blacks are 3.1X more likely to be killed by police than whites based on their percentage of the population. That's horrible. So why is that? The BLM crowd wants everyone to believe it is because of racism - but do blacks commit 3.1x more violent crimes which puts them into situations that require deadly force under the same statistical set? Is it more or is it less?
I think everyone would like to know the actual statistics. Or maybe they don't.

Because you don't understand how numbers should be used. It's about interaction. Since whites commit a much lower percentage of crime than blacks they wont interact as much.
example
10 blacks interact and 3 die 30%
6 whites interact and 2 die 33%
It's about the breakdown of violent crime stats. Based on homicide numbers percentage wise whites are killed by police at a higher rate than blacks.
“Adjusted for the homicide rate, whites are 1.7 times more likely than blacks to die at the hands of police,” Moskos said. “Adjusted for the racial disparity at which police are feloniously killed, whites are 1.3 times more likely than blacks to die at the hands of police.”
The figures include both incidents of justified force and wrongful death.
