The southern states had seceded from the United States of America to form the Confederate States of America prior to the war. As such, they were not traitors, any more than any other country at war with the U.S. is not traitorous.
What official mechanism allowed for secession from the United States? Does it still exist today? Was there an amendment to the Constitution since that disallowed secession?
President Trump on Wednesday came out strongly against the idea of renaming U.S. military bases that are named after Confederate generals -- an issue that has come to the forefront amid the nationwide protests over police brutality and racial injustice.
In a series of tweets on Wednesday afternoon, Trump called the bases named after Confederate soldiers “Hallowed Grounds” that helped train soldiers to win two world wars. He said his administration “will not even consider the renaming of these Magnificent and Fabled Military Installations.”
That's pathetic. Names, Statues and Symbols can harm no one. Worry about the violent ANTIFA and BLM looting, burning, hurting people and destroying property. They can actually HURT YOU, not some name or statue.
Tear down statues, rename bases and parks. It reminds people too much of the past. Of a time of which people now didnt live in, but want to collect on.
How does leaving the name of the base the same affect the operations of the base? Seriously, y'all indeed.
