What a joke!

How sad that future generations will have nowhere to go in America to physically touch history and truly understand it.
Meh, museums are there and those that want, can take the disgraced statues, and display them. With the correct history, or the invented ones so many on this board perpetuate.

Let's start with the Confederate statues and other symbolism. Can we agree on that?

Albany NY's mayor wants to remove the statue of Philip Schuyler because he owned slaves.

Slavery was LEGAL in NYS during his lifetime. He died in 1804, the last slaves were freed in 1827.

Historic buildings and artifacts are lost all the time due to changing morals and politics and frankly greed. Many far more interesting and important than Confederate generals statues. I would hope somebody at least documents the statues including pics of them in current locations. Whether the statues themselves survive, meh. They came decades AFTER the Civil War. Historically interesting mostly as representative of post Civil War, Jim Crow south.

Once thats done, perhaps museums would take in some of better ones. These werent done as artistic masterpieces. They were political symbols.

Whats really sad is when truly ancient historic relics are destroyed. Like the Islamic radicals in Iraq and Syria did with the Buddhist carvings and other pre-Islamic cultural artifacts. They couldnt accept there was anything before Islam or that anything other than their brand Islam has any importance. I believe the radicals in Mali even tried to destroy ancient Islamic manuscripts in Timbuktu. So in their brains, any Islam except their particular brand of Islam shouldnt be allowed to survive.

But that is a room specifically for statues where you can go see them.

There's not a lot of Confederate history up north so they have to destroy and deface something.

They are no better than ISIS in destroying historical artifacts.
And we deem ISIS as terrorists.

Remove all vestiges of any US history will solve what exactly ?

It seems Germany has been able to erase all PUBLIC displays of the Nazi era, and yet no one is claiming the history was erased or forgotten.

Is the USA not as good as Germany?
