I wish they'd stop this crap-it will drive even more from Washington to Idaho.
This is an inaccurate/ over exaggerated depiction of Seattle. There is absolutely a homelessness crisis, but much of that is due to the cost of living going up rapidly over the last 15 years, and tech workers out competing locals for housing that is no longer affordable. It's a money hungry/ greedy city with some of the wealthiest corporations on the planet that contribute the bare minimum, after causing mass displacement. The city is very bureaucratic which makes it difficult to build housing and give these people the resources that they need.
Also, it seems like you're fixating on Seattle to bring attention to Idaho and that was your intention to contributing to this thread. I didn't care for that.
As for the original topic, CHAZ is an experiment. It's not going to be perfect, but it's an example of what life could be like without the police. It is a safe space for black people to share/ exist. Also a great place for learning and growing. Very powerful.

so? if you cant afford somewhere, and it out grows you, move the hell away to a place you can afford. you shouldn't be allowed to live there as a hobo or homeless, it should be illegal and enforceable. push them to another area

That is a shocking and depressing point of view. These are people's lives. Do you really think that's okay to throw them around and consider them dispensable? Many of these people are vulnerable populations. It's not as simple as just moving out, and it's not okay to colonize an area. We can coexist and people move to different areas, but it's wrong for them to push residents out of their homes and potentially on to the streets.
And how can you make living illegal? Because someone doesn't have a home they are now illegal? Are you kidding me? Where are you planning push these people to? It's an ongoing problem that will persist.
