To me, Amy Cooper being able to get away with trying have a black man murdered by cop is the embodiment of white privilege. Given the history of white women/girls falsely accusing men/boys of color of sexual assault or just looking at them the wrong way and the resulting lynching and murdering of these men/boys should be enough to give people second thoughts about doing such thing.

Not asking for anything out of the ordinary. There are laws in the books for false police reports and whatnot. And yet, nothing legally happened to Amy Cooper. And let's all be honest with ourselves. She lost her job because of her company needing to do some PR damage control.

Losing one's job after trying to get a black man murdered by cop is a slap on the wrist.

She's got a bill named after her. If I screwed up that bad I'd gladly take jail time over that.

So, you don't think there is anything wrong with calling 911 on a guy that's doing nothing to you? Nothing wrong with her making her voice more and more distressed on the phone? No legal ramifications for making false charges because you feel like it?

Is your post a serious post?

Let me turn this around. Is it legally ok for me to call the police on you claiming you're raping my dog? I'll start working on sounding really distressed on the phone.

Ok, please explain why you don't think she should be charged with anything? Do you think it is ok for me to call the police and claim you're raping my dog without me facing any legal consequence?

Read the link. There is a bill (expected to pass this week) that would make what she did a hate crime.

What do you think she could possibly be charged with? Calling in a false report? How would anyone prove she wasn't feeling threatened? Everyone knows she was lying - but proving that is something else altogether.

Don't need it to be a hate crime. It's already a crime to make a false police report. Why the hell isn't she being charged?

So according to this bill in NY if you call the cops on a black person and the cops deem that the black person wasn’t committing a crime YOU get arrested for a hate crime? That’s absurd! I wouldn’t live in an area with that law.
