The concept of people coming together and saying that black lives matter is a good thing. I think most fair minded people are in agreement. It's this militaristic and sometimes violent approach that is wearing thin. The fringe in that movement are expecting white people to kneel and the constant "check your white privelge" and the expecting apologies and all of that nonsense are starting to lose me. That crowd can go SCREW themselves in hurry.
I treat all people with respect and dignity. I ain't kneeling and apologizing for being white. I've never harmed any black person and I ain't apologizing for the sins of the father as the saying goes.
I have a WHITE gf who is 70 soon and lives in a So Cal house and not much in CA housing is low cost...but she cares a lot about people and does volunteer work and she put together a cardboard sign, and affixed it to the front of her house with big bold letters about BLM. I'm proud of her.
No, respectfully, I do not. I am all for peacefully, respectfully protesting to be heard. You bet. But, THIS has not and is not. It's a violent sideshow of disgusting behavior and illustrates the worst lowlifes America has to offer.
They lost me with the violence and taking over the streets, thereby shutting down businesses of common folks who are simply trying to eke out a living. Shame on them.
I can't hear their message. All I see is civil unrest by a pack of unruly thugs.
Unfortunately, I live in California.
Too bad you don’t see the solidarity on display in the protests around me. Maybe it a jersey thing. It’s really opened my eyes to an issue I was only tangentially aware of. I’m sorry all you see are unruly thugs. Are there no peaceful protests at all?
I live in an upscale but VERY diverse neighborhood and the only people I know who are putting up BLM on their homes, posting BLM on their social media, and participating in the local marches are actually WHITE. Most minorities here couldn't care less about BLM and have other concerns. I got slammed by a white liberal and a bunch of her friends when I criticized her BLM post even though I'm darker than most Blacks.
I’m white. Since this whole thing started I’m spending a lot energy educating myself on the issues. I’ve worked for years in poor urban communities in direct service to minority clients.
Now I’m retired.
As I’ve said before, I’ve learned a lot recently about the blm movement.
