As long as he "cooperates," right?

Yes, he cooperated and didn't get killed, so now he has a lawsuit and a platform.

As did tennis player/commentator James Blake when the same thing happened to him, another screwed up incident.

You can't seem to see the difference between defending your rights, which you have a right to do, and fighting the police every time you encounter them. NOBODY thinks the police should be arresting them..not the guy who just robbed a bank, or the guy who was minding his own business and gets tackled (Blake).

It is moronic to teach your children to fight cops, whether they are innocent or not. Fight them in court.

I fear that is exactly the message that is getting across. "Cops are gonna kill you anyway, so fight them whenever you encounter them."

I don't see why the initial encounter with guns drawn was necessary, nor do I understand, with back-up right there- why they didn't just ask him "We're looking for a suspect that fits your description and clothing- do you have I.D.? Who are you?"

I've never been manhandled like that, and I was a hell raiser in my late teens til about 20. Me and my friends got stopped and asked questions, told to break up parties or creating a ruckus but never, ever was a gun ever drawn or the cuffs came out.

Police said he fit the description of someone they were looking for. Once they confirmed he was not that person, they let him go and apologized.

Amen. Fight to get them all fired, and have pensions frozen at present vesting levels.

As a youngster, I was stopped by 3 cops in my town, as another young, white boy, about my age, in the area, was seen vandalizing property. The asked a lot of questions fast, and didn't need weapons, as I was under 5' tall, and each was a foot or more taller, 2.5 times my weight each.

I answered accurately and politely. Then proceeded on my way. I did not view the cops action as discriminatory based on race and/or age, though they were targeting kids fitting the demographics of the kid vandalizing.

All drawing guns IMO and sending him to the ground is over the top.

I can understand 2 guns drawn, circling the person being interrogated. Now if he makes an aggressive move, then take him down hard.

Apparently he fit the description of someone who did something bad. Good job cops.

If I fit the description of a suspect, and I presented no threat and was cooperative and the police still made me get on my stomach then put a knee on my neck and cuff me? I'd sue the ever loving crap out of them. That's violating my civil rights.

You don't treat 'citizens' like that. Hell you don't treat humans like that.
