According to Gov. Cuomo, New York had the worst numbers. Now its the leading the nation in virus reduction.

How is NY state leading the nation in reduction but less dense states seeing an increase? NYC is so densely populated and has so many obstacles. So what are other states excuse?

NY was hit so bad that they had nowhere to go but down and even with all the decline of Covid in NY, they are still averaging more Covid deaths per day per capita than states that are seeing steep increases of cases in cases right now.

Maybe with lockdowns ending there is more testing, because if you are preparing to go back to work you are more inclined to be tested, and that would increase the number of cases.

NYC had severe lockdowns and required masks and social distancing. The other states decided it wasn't worth it to require those things, and opened back up before they could get a handle on it.

I think because they got hit so hard, they take social distancing measures more seriously.

It's not a race or competition. Not all states increased cases at the same time.

Here in SC we are just starting to see increases these past 3 weeks since Memorial Day weekend.
Hotels opened up and tourists from up north flooded the beaches.

No masks, not even attempting social distancing. They act as if the virus doesn't exist here and even told local reporters that they will worry about the virus when they go back home.

And so SC is now reporting new highs of positive cases each day for the past week.
