The guy was on a public street peacefully exercising his 1st Amendment rights. In a civilized society, which the US was at one point, he should have the expectation to not be assaulted and stolen from.

When I opened the video in the OP after reading comments, I expected to see him stomped and kicked.
He was kissed on the cheek by a guy who said he was gay, surrounded, somehow ended up on the ground and surrounded again.
Seems to me the shock at how he was treated was exaggerated compared to beatings I've seen on video in this forum.
His main complaint in the follow on video is that "they don't want me to preach" "they refuse to listen" "I was trying to get to the larger crowds and they prevented me".
What did he expect?
