How many people here consider themselves a moderate?
A "moderate" these days, is well personified by someone who feels that when bank robbers rob a bank, the outcome is "fair" when the bank keeps half the money and the robbers take the other half.
I am a moderate: I believe in equal rights (but not affirmative action, for all humans of all races regardless of race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, disability, etc). I believe in an economic safety net for those who need it (unemployment, disability income for those who can't work, and social support services to some extent). I also believe in law and order and that those who do have more ambition should be rewarded for their hard work with higher pay (doctors, engineers, etc) but all workers should be protected by laws such a miniumum wage, labor unions, etc. I am a person of color and want to be judged entirely by the content of my character and NOT the color of my skin. I dislike Trump and the current left wing liberals both and would like to see a good centrist become president. Ideally, Biden nominates a centrist as V.P., wins and resigns. If Trump gets re-elected, we could be in some trouble but if Biden nominates an extreme left wing candidate who relies on identity politics (such as Abrams) and wins, we could be in even bigger trouble,
OTHER: I consider myself socially liberal, fiscally conservative, and believe the entrenched two-party system along with both major parties are the greatest threats to its future this country faces.
Same here, and agree with your synopsis of the two parties, which is why I voted 3rd party in the past two presidential elections knowing they were wasted votes.
i am leftwing and i have seen the division brought about by evangelical Christians since the 1980s..talk radio has slowly driven the country rights wards as its easier to just flap your gums about an issue than give it carefull study...i believe with the populist election of donald trump the right has reached their zenith and will decline as more and more people discover that the religious right did anything and everything for power..
you can fool some of the people all of the time but you cant fool them all the time
I used to be a moderate democrat but then the party radicalized
I Did not sign up for this- my town was burned and looted this month By peaceful demonstrators The police were stoned -my church members were threatened when they tried to do cleanup
*snickers*
I'm a liberal but can find common ground with conservatives on certain things.
