I never though in my lifetime that Republicans would look past the Reauthorization if the Patriot Act, ask social media platforms to become publishers and limit speech. Say it is ok to use military personnel to gas and assault protestors for a photo op.

Democrats supported the Patriot act. Hell Democrats seem to love Bush now

Intolerance is probably the aspect that is most obvious from the radical Left. They have to be the least tolerant group in the US.
If someone has an opinion differing from the Left, they do everything they can to destroy that person or group, anything to silence them. Including plenty of violence.
It's why you've seen the Liberal students smashing windows and doors at the Universities when a Conservative speaker is scheduled to appear one evening. They force the schools to cancel. It's very likely if the school doesn't cancel, the lunatic Liberal students would eventually burn the school down. That's not even a stretch of imagination. THAT'S how intolerant and loony they actually are.
The main thing accomplished by removing those types of editorials from newspapers — apart from scaring the hell out of editors — is to shield readers from knowledge of what a major segment of American society is thinking.
It also guarantees that opinion writers and editors alike will shape views to avoid upsetting colleagues, which means that instead of hearing what our differences are and how we might address those issues, newspaper readers will instead be presented with page after page of people professing to agree with one another. That’s not agitation, that’s misinformation.

You say something that people disagree with they've instantly gone to labeling it racist etc. and THUS labeling it such an evil offense they can go right to the threat\intimidation and censorship route "for the public good".
President Obama himself has cautioned about going down this dark path of weaponized identity politics where anyone disagreeing must be racist or sexist and those views shouldn't thus be even allowed and the speaker should be removed from their job and so forth.
Most quietly hate the SJW cancel culture left. They will not say it loud and they are NOT by and large turning into Trump supporters. For small example: They are horrified that the very free speech they fought so hard for is being destroyed.

Taibbi has been there before. He roasted the media after the Russian collusion scheme went to pot.
He's definitely in the liberal camp - but every so often the truth smacks him in the face. At least he doesn't ignore it or stuff it in the closet.
