A politician using threats of state sanctioned violence to silence critical speech, now if only we had an amendment or something that was directly related to this....

How long does it take to do a review? They had the book since November-December 2019 so what is the holdup.

Looks like State sanctioned muzzling by a desperate Administration. They know what is in that book already, there is something they don’t want to get out before the election.

If Trump is allowed to set the trend then good luck getting anything approved by any Presidential administration While they are in power.

One thing all Presidents do is expand their powers, be careful Republicans. A Democrat President will be sure to follow suit and muzzle every right wing book while in office.

Trump once said "he has nothing to hide" when speaking about Russia. If that is the case why is he so upset about this book being released?
They had the book since late last year so if they were concerned about anything why didn't they say so then?

I know Trump and his City-Data supporters are praying the book never comes out, but it's too late. Millions of copies have already been printed.

Even if the book is shelved and Bolton is sued, one copy will manage to find its way into the hands of someone who will leak it.

Now the Trumpenfuhrer is looking into suing his niece over her upcoming book. Gee, I wonder what he's got to hide?

Trump is worried that this book will spearhead a new impeachment. Must be some really bad stuff in there for him to be so scared. There has already been several negative books from people formerly close to him yet this one he is really fighting. And his niece has a book coming out. And I guess he is going to sure her also.

Of course if he loses in November it will be criminal investigations not impeachment that he will need to worry about.

I wonder indeed.

It's so funny how Trump supporters pretend not to notice any of this.

Trump LITERALLY went to the Supreme Court in order to hide his tax returns, something that previous presidents going back 40 years have done voluntarily.

Trump threatened legal action if anybody released his college or high school transcripts.

Trump made sure that his hand-picked AG kept most of the Mueller report and Grand Jury information locked away from the American public.

Trump paid off a p0rn star over $100K to keep quiet about his sexual affair with her.

Trump sued Bolton to keep his book off the shelves

Trump is threatening to sue his niece to prevent her book off the shelves.

For Donald Trump to say he was going to be the most transparent president in American history, he sure does go out of his way a lot to keep information about him hidden.

Will a single Trump supporter address any of that? Not a chance.

To be fair, there's likely many digital copies of Trump's tax returns (as well as physical). None of those have leaked out, possibly due to presidential retribution.

What I'm wondering is why Bolton's book is such a big deal. There's been other books and other statements about Trump's administration that have come out over the last 3 years. Many paint the President and the administration as inept and ignorant. What exactly about Bolton's book is so special?

And yeah, so much for the First Amendment. But, do you expect anything else? Article II supposedly lets the President do whatever they want. He's proven this time and time again with the full backing of the Republican Party. It is really too bad their party doesn't hold the House, Senate and Presidency right now. If Trump does lose election, they could pass all sorts of bills to limit the power of the next president.

Yeah, it could have been used against Obama for the many times he threatened and prosecuted journalists because they weren't being nice to him or made his poll numbers look bad.
PS..you can't claim bu, bu Obama since this thread is basically an open thread .. it's title is about someone named "Rump" ... which could be Obama.
