We can usually tell who is actually "rooting" for something bad to happen, to prove their point. That's a disgusting way to express your opinion.
No one is rooting for anything. That is the Trump apologist speaking, where everyone always has some evil motive to disagree with you political bias. I know you find it hard to admit you have been dead wrong on this issue, but you need to get over your pride and try to offer something constructive, or simply stop derailing the thread with the constant off topic nonsense.
Although the lower death rate now compared to April when we had 2,700 the fact that we are near 1,000 and rising is terrible news and a national failure. The Lower dear rate over time is just a deflection from the current surge.
What are you talking about? When NY spiked early all I saw on here was talk of the failure of blue state governors and how that would never happen in a red state. And now that FL, TX, GA and others are spiking those governors have no responsibility to their constituents?
It never was red or blue. It's a virus that doesn't see political party. But policies and adherence to them matter. We are all responsible for stopping the spread.

Worth repeating.
Public health is a security issue. Pandemic disease can destabilize regions & undermine economies. They can create fertile territory for social and political unrest, anywhere on the globe. Even here in the USA. IMHO it is way past time that we in America realize that we are ALL in this together and start working together like the UNITED States of America.
Divided we fall, but together we can accomplish almost anything.

The dashboard shows the following five hospitals have zero ICU beds open:
Mease Dunedin Hospital
AdventHealth North Pinellas Hospital (Tarpon Springs)
Morton Plant Hospital (Clearwater)
St. Petersburg General Hospital
Northside Hospital (St. Petersburg)
It is getting more and more difficult for you to pretend the problem doesn't exist, isn't it?
This from TMC in Houston:
They have plans for 3 Phases.
Phase 1 has capacity for 1,330 ICU patients.
Phase 2 has capacity for 373 ICU patients.
Phase 3 has capacity for 504 ICU patients.
They also have a plan for additional capacity above that, by converting additional beds to ICU.
They are currently in Phase 2, where 82% of beds are occupied. Of those, 37% are Covid positive patients.
By the numbers, there are currently 1,394 total ICU beds occupied. There are currently 626 Covid ICU patients.
Yes, they are at full capacity for Phase 1. The purpose of the shutdown was to allow hospitals time to put alternative plans in place, which TMC has obviously done.
It's important to note that Covid patients are anyone that has tested positive for the virus, regardless of why they are in the hospital. So to assume that they are hospitalized because of Covid is incorrect. This was explained by a doctor at TMC on a local radio program yesterday.

The best solution to combat this issue does not cost $4 trillion dollars, it is practically free. All we need is a clear message coming from all levels of leadership. The message should inform people of the risk and how to minimize that risk. The mixed messaging and partisan bickering is causes confusion and it is causing people to ignore common sense measures to minimize the risk. We have some leaders offering common sense instructions, while others downplay the problem. People listen to one source and ignore the other.
So, we don't need a shut-down, but a clear message. Unfortunately this is not happening, and we are seeing more and more hospitalizations and more death, and more economic damage. The government is already asking for another trillion dollars to hand out to people who are impacted.

This makes no sense. First, the math doesn't mesh. If the percentages are right then the total beds occupied is 1636 ((P1 1330 beds x 1.0) + (P2 373 beds x 0.82)). Second, I don't think they have ever implemented Phase 2 before but why would 63% of the surge overflow be non-covid? Is there a rash of traffic accidents happening? Seems like nearly all of the overflow should be covid.
Florida’s Department of Health on Friday confirmed 11,433 new cases of COVID-19, making it the second highest single-day total recorded since the pandemic began in March.
The highest 24-hour total recorded in the state was on Saturday, with 11,458 new cases.
It's an unfortunate trend. Hopefully those states can get it back under control. We're rooting for you.
