Everything is politicized. Reopening schools, wearing a mask, vaccine, all become D vs R.

This is not a mild disease for far too many and anyone who says so displays their ignorance. Clearly, they've read nothing about it from those in the field actually in the front lines fighting it.
I agree.

It's a contagious disease that is spiraling out of control.

The ignorance in this country is going to be out biggest downfall.

What will keep the FL and Texas situations somewhat manageable are the advancements in treatments since the NYC debacle. Both states will be working at peak capacity and beyond, but with a better success rate thanks to those who put in the hard miles the past few months.

We've come a long, long way in a very short period of time. Science thread on Current Events forum is a great repository of successful treatment options with new being added daily - thanks to the researchers, scientists, and medical people working at breakneck speed around the world.

I don't consider this a political issue, but a scientific issue.

I've been reading about this disease since January. It was not and is not nothing. CV is a very big dieal. Those who refuse to take it seriously, do so at their peril.

I am NOT a proponent of a shutdown.

We, as a country, must find a way to "live" with this virus. Life and business must continue.

Therefore, I am also a big proponent of masks and social distancing. If those two things were practiced, this country could get back to business much more quickly.

Finally, I do think decisions should be made locally dependent on level of contagion in a particular area. With the benefit of hindsight, one of the bigger mistakes in the beginning was a countrywide shutdown.

But, at that time, we had NO weapons to fight this. Our knowledge of this disease and its numerous manifestations and adverse effects on the body was virtually nil.

Now, just a few months later, medical treatments and knowledge of CV behavior have advanced considerably. Therefore, going forward we should be able to do business in this country and fight the virus.

Not sure where all of the above puts me on the political spectrum. I generally vote Democrat.

For the vast majority of people, catching Covid-19 will be mild - either symptomless or milder symptoms than what they get from the flu or even common cold. It's only a minority of people that seem to struggle with it - either being sick for weeks or dying. Why it works that way is still a mystery. But Covid-19 can be accurately summed up as a mild disease for most.

It was not alleged, he flat out said that was the reason.

“Right now in the United States people should not be walking around with masks … You should think of healthcare providers who are needing them and the people who are ill.”

Either way, today we know a heck of a lot more about the extent of the pandemic than six months ago, so your choices are:

1. Listen to outdated advice
2. Listen to current advice
3. Listen to propaganda
4. Don't listen to anything

You have chosen #3 or #4.

Good luck and all. Its a free country and you are free to reject what the doctor's recommend.

1100 people died yesterday, but hey, let's not worry about. Some criminals were shot and wounded in Chicago. Let's talk about that.

145 000 dead, but no worries because not everyone dies.

Did you go to the grocery store to lick the door handles yet? You said you wanted to be done with it. Didn't someone tell you that once you have it, you can never get it again? For some reason you have decided to believe that, while rejecting everything else.

Who is "they", the message has been consistent to wear masks for several months now except from these republican governors that have made health recommendations into a partisan issue.

You keep attempting to dismiss this as a mild disease, that is in opposition to what the health experts indicate. Florida is generating 10,000 cases a day, that is the issue they are facing.
