He was being attacked by a mob, with a deadly weapon. If someone doesn't think a skateboard is a deadly weapon, then I would suggest volunteering to be smacked over the head several times with one. As far as the knife, I'm not really sure what that was so I'll wait to comment until further info. Could be a knife or might not be one. Doesn't matter. Knife, no knife, it was still self-defense.

He was arrested because somebody is dead and LE needs to sort it all out. Hopefully he won't be in custody for long.

Ah, well shocking that the full story wasn't mentioned in the OP.

He went around throwing people to the ground, so he wasn't some innocent bystander.

Now, they chase him down and attack him with a knife after the fact, I don't know how the law sorts this out.

this is what happens when you have chaos and why I prefer civilization.
