Oh pleaae, it will still be where they were before the changes and there are other options if you are offended the free market prevailed.

Did you know that the sheriff of Neshoba County, MS was praised by Redman chewing tobacco? An OH company saw his picture showing contempt for his arraignment for killing the three voting rights workers in the 'Mississippi Burning' killings and sent him a case of tobacco for 'a man whose work kept him busy'. What does that tell you about the company? What kind of decision would you make based on their stance?

I used to chew, but never Redman. The sheriff was eventually convicted for the killings.

I guess next they'll use OJ Simpson in ads.

What OH company was it? How or what did Redman do to praise this sheriff?

"Three years and four months after the executions, the federal government used cobbled-together testimony from paid informants and two confessions to prosecute 19 men for conspiracy to violate the three men's civil rights—but not until after the conspirators achieved a certain amount of notoriety in the country. Photos of a smirking Rainey and his Red Man pouch netted him a free case of chewing tobacco from the Pinkerton Tobacco Company of Toledo, Ohio. A photo of the sheriff, smiling and lying on a massage table, also appeared in a local chiropractor's advertisement that read: "Civil Rights Got Him Down in the Back."

Interesting. No actual proof that Pinkerton did this but the company is still around so why hasn't it been called out since this 2004 article?

Also, how did Red Man praise the sheriff in the infamous photo?

No actual proof? What more do you want from something that happened in the sixties, a signed affidavit?

The company was referenced in "We Are Not Afraid".

"In September, 1964—nearly a month after the bodies were found – Rainey received a surprise gift from the Pinkerton Tobacco Company of Toledo, Ohio. Rainey’s photograph had appeared in The Saturday Evening Post, a packet of his favorite chewing tobacco, Red Man, in one hand and a man-sized chew in his cheek. Perhaps sensing potential publicity benefits from an association with the world-famous, tobacco-chewing sheriff, Pinkerton Sales manager L.R. Jump sent Rainey a case of two dozen Red Man regular-size packets, with his compliments. “If you wish,” Jump wrote, “you may keep one dozen in your office and one dozen in the new tan Oldsmobile with the powerful red light on top that is filled with guns, nightsticks, and extra cartons of Red Man.”

We Are Not Afraid, pg. 377.

check it out.

Damnatio memoriae...

We should preserve a few copies in a museum somewhere.

I know all about the history. They got the name and likeness from a blackface minstrel show tune. black face minstrel characters were used everywhere to sell products. Using a black mammy caricature selling flour was perfect since The "cake walk" was a popular form of blackface entertainment.

Brought to you by the modern day Democrat party. More to come.
Nothing is being banned. A large corporation is re-branding a product to be more in sync with the times. You should look up the history of Aunt Jemima. Maybe you have no issue with slavery but a majority of Americans do. Corporations are in business to make money for their shareholders--not the Democratic party. Not sure if you get the connection but--no matter. BTW, you can still buy the high fructose syrup, chemical ladened , mass produced syrup if you wish. The branding on the outside of the product will just look different. It happens more than you think so quit yer worrying.
