I have long resisted buying a gun, but recent events convinced me I need one. Since the police might not do their jobs, who is going to protect my family when a violent mob come? If some cops quit, that's their choice and that's fine. If they are on the public payroll, they should do their jobs. If I refuse to do my job, my company would fire me in a heartbeat.
The Atlanta shooting was justified but the mayor sacrificed the cops for political gain. If I was a cop, especially one in Atlanta or NYC, I'd find another line of work. It's clear that you are reviled by your leaders and will be thrown under the bus.

I foresee mass exodus of big city cops to suburban police departments, federal LE, or just quit law enforcement altogether
No biggie.i am sure social workers can respond to 911 calls.
The end result will probably be much like newly graduated teachers who try to get student loan forgiveness via Teach for America and come out of it traumatized and ready to pay their loans themselves after only a few months.
