BLM protests are outside and have a very high adoption of mask wearing. In my area, it's near 100%. Churches are indoors and, if photos from friends in the south are any indication, many are not requiring their congregants wear masks. The restaurants and bars where covid is spreading are indoors, particularly in areas with low overall mask adoption and uncontrolled spread.
So large gatherings of people cause the virus to spread. Except for certain kinds of large gatherings. And the gatherings that you approve of just happen to fit into that certain kind. Well that works out well for you, doesn't it?
The left isn't going to do it, anyway, but those same idiots previously told everyone else to stay home. Dash, those savages cannot make up their minds to save themselves.

FYI, extensive interview with one of the leading public health scientists today - he was asked about the protests and he said he and Colleagues have been looking closely for spikes since it's been two week and many such cases would have already shown up.
None have. That is, no measurable spikes. He doesn't claim that none will. He is simply saying they have been studying it and continue to study it and no effect has been seen.
On the other hand, the non-wearing of masks and gathering in bars and eateries and travel to and from Florida HAS shown a MASSIVE increased in new cases, with a tripling from 1,000 to 3,000+ per DAY being reported.
But never let the facts get in the way of a good talking point!
It turns out, and this is great information, that most any and every activity outdoors is "relatively" safe. If you wear a mask (many protestors do) it is even more so.
Out of 1200 cases in one study transmission was indoors on all except two. Those two were walking down the street together talking for a long period of time.
This is a public service announcement. You won't get COVID from surfaces. You likely won't get it on the beach. You will get it from Air.
Even Trumps rally is nowhere near as dangerous as a club where people are drinking and talking. The high ceiling heights mean there is a lot of air.
The dangers from his rally will be the travel to and fro and the people doing so using services in the area - which is why some stores around there are closing for the rally period. Even that is relatively lower risk.
No doubt SOME cases will be spread by the Trump rally. But I doubt it will be measurable since OK is already in a massive spike which would eventually hide those cases AND many are traveling from elsewhere anyway.
What a crock of you know what.
You just recited the lockdown Nazis talking points. Protests are fine. Travel to Florida isn't?
How do they really know those spikes came from restaurants and not from protests, especially if asymptomatic people can pass the virus? They don't.
Instead of getting all bitter about the fact that, so far, we aren't seeing anything serious arise from large group activities that take place outdoors, just be happy. It's GREAT news. I know you all were wishing that the protesters would get sick and die but that didn't happen (although we have another few weeks to know the full outcome).
What this is showing is that indoor social activities in confined spaces are problematic. Restaurants, small churches, public transportation.
The Tulsa rally will also be another experiment. If nothing major happens then we also learn that we can have groups/crowds in big spaces like arenas. If there are too many infections then we know we can't.
These events and their outcomes go a long way to determine ways to be safely open while this virus circulates.
I really don't even understand why anyone is comparing protests (outdoors) to activities that are held indoors.
And yes, a few weeks ago, we were told not to do any gathering and people were ridiculed for crowding up at the beach. Today, after weeks have gone by, we have learned that those types of gatherings aren't virus friendly. But, people did it anyway, so let's try to learn from it instead of pouting over she said/he said, and but, but, buts?
Oh, I see. 3,000 cases per day and this person is certain that none of them can be traced back to protests. Well that's......interesting.

New York City has hired 1,000 workers to conduct contact tracing to monitor the spread of coronavirus, but they will not be asking people if they have participated in any of the protests that have taken place throughout the city....
