Memorial Day was started by freed slaves and their descendants as well.

Some people did some things possibly a long time ago.

Every time we have a holiday, especially on a business day, it throws off my entire week.
Well, I personally don't care how you feel about that. I can't empathize with you on that matter.

Prove it. Or is it just the holiday itself you don't like?

I do find it a bit ridiculous that an event that occured 157 years ago is now a holiday. The event was nothing more than a footnote in history, and 98% of people never really heard about. Its more a 2021 appeasement holiday.

I am supportive of a Juneteenth holiday. It has real meaning in celebration of a real historical event. It means something to black Americans. It can mean something to us white Americans once we learn about it. It is an absolute reasonable request unlike some of the crazy leftist demands lime reparations or defunding the police.

I have some questions though of black posters. Can you live with it being a true celebration though? Fireworks, cookouts and black cultural events? I can envision something that is a cross between 4th of July and Cinco De Mayo. Can you handle that? Non black Americans will likely embrace that.....can you? Can you handle white people indulging in your culture without taking offense?

What we don’t want is another holiday celebrating the liberal view of race in America where white people are evil and blacks people are victims. We don’t need a summer version of MLK day. We don’t need reflection, a day of service or anything like that. What the country needs is another reason to celebrate unity and freedom. Your Juneteenth holiday can do that.

Can you live with a celebration? Can you allow other races to embrace aspects of your culture without the cries of cultural appropriation? Do you really want a NATIONAL holiday for all of us to celebrate the freedom of slaves or do you still want a private party that activists control. If most black people could say yes to this it could go a long way toward healing this countries race troubles.

I find it to be a racist holiday. It is racist just like BLACK Entertainment Television and BLACK history month.

Well, George Washington proclaimed the first national Thanksgiving more than 150 years after any one of the debatable "first" Thanksgivings in America, with the very first recorded one in Virginia taking place in December, and all following European "thanksgiving" celebrations that were kind of random, so...(shrug)

I'll celebrate the day when black folks stop killing each other in our major cities and stop looting Gucci stores. Blacks today aren't free.

If the Italian stores like Gucci were not near the bad neighborhoods they would not have to worry about being robbed
