My favorite fiction so far is Kindred and favorite nonfiction is "So you want to talk about Race"
Do you read books written by people you disagree with to see what it's all about?
I am an avid book reader since childhood and have a collection of rare (and not rare lol) books, and yes, black authors/authoresses are among them! Richard Wright...awesome. Langston Hughes, brilliant. Two black Caribbean female authoresses whose work I adore...one amazing memoir written by a black servant in THE NORTH in the 1800s...others...this is just off the top of head...
I don't "disagree" with them though. That part of your q is confusing to me.
I’ve only read Toni Morrison, and Chinua Achebe of the top of my head. I used to be really into YA Dystopia novels and those authors until about 2016 where 90-100% white. Today I read a few black authors, mostly Nigerians, and lots of Japanese light novels but outside of that I almost exclusively read white authors books since most of my favorite fiction novels have been written by white Authors.

Chimamanda Adichie is a favorite Nigerian writer of mine.
I don't believe that so many people here don't look into the backgrounds of the people writing their books. Hell, in many situations, their picture is on the back of the book or on the dust jacket.

Why should I?? As a white male I get bashed enough already!

I have one Japanese light novel- Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases. A prequel to the manga Death Note. Including manga, I have dozens of volumes by Japanese authors, and read many more manga/manhwa/manhua online from back when I was really into that stuff during 2011-2016.
It's the idea OP has that not only would one choose a book based on the race of the author, but that they think black authors only write about things OP disagrees with, that rubs people the wrong way.
Because OP asked?
Why do you have such a fascination with black people? You don't care or you're triggered but you still chime in...

Haha, OMG. You probably actually believe this. Where in my posts did I say any of this? Reading into others' posts much?
