The president has the right to fire political appointees for cause or without cause. This was a point that Comey made when he was fired.

I am surprised that Berman needed Trump to back Barr in his decision before he realized that his time was up. Preet Bharara tried the same nonsense and he had to leave.

Whose decision? Trump or Barr? Who made the decision?

Barr made the decision to replace Berman and when Berman challenged it, he obviously went to Trump who backed him up. It was still Barr's initial decision/recommendation.

Berman realized the gig was up and he issued a statement saying he was leaving.

But that’s not what Trump said. He said “I’m not involved.” He didn’t say what you are claiming.

And we all know why he said it.

I am seriously confused-I thought the President is who can fire him. I don’t think he gets to delegate it to the AG? Did the President go on record that he is firing him?

No, he did not, so Berman stays.

Yes Trump said he was not involved in the decision to replace him but when Barr's authority was challenged by Berman, Trump supported him according to Barr's statement. Trump obviously does not want to be directly linked to the firing ........

Berman, according to ABC in its national news just issued a statement that he was leaving effective immediately.
