The issue here is the question you are asking... it implies you don't quite grasp the quote. And no... socialism (and communism) don't imply the threat or execution of genocide.
Again.. several capitalistic countries (including ours) have committed atrocities against peoples. It doesn't mean to establish capitalism implies atrocities were required.
The quote you don't quite understand which is in line with much of your posts here... single line of thought.. ignore others that don't quite play well with your line of thought.
Sounds like a good teacher to me, using multiple sources for reading, role playing, using relatable examples, and making connections to current events. Good for him.
My eighth grade class read The Jungle. We also read Sherlock Holmes stories, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Lord of the Flies. Such evil trash ...
Is there no "quality control"? Unbelievable.
I'm with you. Sounds like a very good teacher. Thank goodness there are still teachers around who teach literature. Kids may not appreciate right now, but they will.
They also have the "Big Red Dog" in the cirriculum. Perhaps the red dog was really symbolism for COMMUNISM and they brainwashed our kids. Thankfully Trump will immediately reveal that conspiracy of this supposed "big red dog" after blowing the lid on Joe Scarboroughs intern murder leads that implicate Hillary and Vince Foster and none other than.....George Soros
Red is also associated with Republican party.. I guess that's the party of communism?
Joking
Apparently, Mr. Bridwell was drawing a little girl with a big dog as a concept one night. He just so happens that there was bottle of red paint within reach. He wanted to name the dog Tiny but his wife thought it was too obvious.... but she liked the color red. Later the dog was named Clifford. I believe he swung back and forth politically but wasn't really involved. Just did a quick search and he claimed to be independent.
Sometimes the obvious is the truth.... Red has many meanings. I always think strawberries because I love eating them.

With regards to this I can't resist another quote:
"Everybody has a right to be stupid, but some people abuse the privilege." J.V>STALIN.

Binary people have little grasp of nuance. This record player is broken so you will not get anywhere.
You have made an excellent point that will be ignored because it is true.

Again, complete nonsense. Capitalism does NOT require atrocities to implement, not at all.
Unfortunately no country in the history of human has been purely capitalist. The vast majority of the countries have slavery but a few add a little flavor of capitalism. USA was established with the most amount of capitalism but still long way from it.
On the other hand, communism and socialism must require atrocities to implement every policy without exception.
As I asked before, feel free to name one exception.
