Based on Elon Musk's recent comments and actions, is he a "liberal"?
I'm sorry? Are you saying that the promise of thousands of new jobs in Texas would only attract people of a certain political leaning? Help me understand your point here. It can't be what it appears on its face...

That was what you were apparently suggesting with your previous post.
Elon Musk has not been adhering to the leftist orthodoxy for some time now. I wonder how much of a leftist he actually is. More and more, Musk seems like a maverick pragmatist, whose world view has evolved rapidly in the kiln of practical reality, in which has been residing for a good while now. Funny how that works.
As far as the rest of the employees at this facility, the average wage is projected to be about $47,000 per year. As you can see, these are blue collar jobs and will probably mostly be filled by locals. Of course there will be people of varied political beliefs and leanings who work at this facility, as is the case at almost every company.
But it is not clear how many people will need to move from California to staff this facility. Among those, we certainly do not know their political dispositions. Just because they live in California, it does not automatically follow that they are leftists. If they are engineers and middle management types, they very well may be more likely to be conservatives.
You better sell that Tesla stock if you think they make multi-billion dollar strategic decisions in response to short term events like mask requirements. How stupid do people have to be to buy into that?
It was a closure of a plant in one particular CA county and it affected his entire operation because that is where they assembled the car. They might of been losing somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 million per week in gross profits.
This is in the industrial part of town, on the outskirts. It sounds like a reasonable price for what they are purchasing. And they can buy more, if they want to.
The cost of the land will just be the tip of the iceberg with regards to the cost of this project. Building it out and moving their current operations out of California will be hugely expensive.
I know exactly where it is. Otherside of the Austin Airport(the old AF Base) on the way to Bastrop. They are being offered tax free status to move. An acre of land anywhere close to Austin is over $55,000

As everyone can see, there is plenty more land around that area, in case they or their vendors need more. Or if housing developers want to build some houses there. That view appears to be looking towards the East, Austin is the view to the West.
Old news, but good for Austin. Tesla should've selected Houston, but i can see why they didn't.
