Tesla's Texas factory has nothing to do with California politics. As Tesla has explained, they want a centrally located factory to supplement their California factory because a) it's costly, slow and inefficient to ship vehicles from California to the East Coast, and b) Tesla has outgrown the Fremont factory.

If politics was the reason for Musk's move, why would they pick a blue city like Austin?
As Tesla has publicly explained, and has been posted several times in this thread, Tesla has had enough of the California regulatory environment and they have announced their intention to move their operations to get away from that. That is what they are doing here.

Once they finish negotiating the incentives from Del Vale ISD and the state, expect a formal announcement, possibly before the end of this week.

Agreed, but I also think Musk is the master of playing and exploiting Governments, wordlwide to get economic benefits, but if they are WILLING to give the tax breaks and all the other incentives, then who's fault is that? Not his, but the government entity that gives it. So in effect, he is both telling CA to go to heck, but also exploiting the other guy on the block. And he is not the only one that does it.

You better sell that Tesla stock if you think they make multi-billion dollar strategic decisions in response to short term events like mask requirements. How stupid do people have to be to buy into that?

Sure. And why shouldn't he? Tesla and every company has options as to where they set up shop. If one location is economically more attractive to a company than another location, they would be irresponsible to not only take that into account, but to leverage their negotiations to the greatest extent possible with these states and localities to put themselves in position to be as successful as they possibly can be.

Why in the world would they want to leave this money on the table? Clearly they do not and almost no other business concern will want to either.

Of course the state of Texas understands this and has engaged in these sorts of negotiations many times. If California understood it, Tesla might not be leaving now. But they are leftists who think that government is the purpose for which we all exist. News flash: It isn't.

The Travis County Commissioners Court has an item on its June 23 agenda (tomorrow) to discuss its deliberations for an "economic development performance agreement" (financial incentives) with Tesla. The hearing will be live and will be streamed live.

Tesla factory to get public hearing in Travis County

The Travis County Commissioners Court has an item on its June 23 agenda about its deliberations with Tesla Inc. for an economic development performance agreement that could help bring what the electric carmaker calls a "Gigafactory" to the county's Eastern Crescent. The California-based company is seeking incentives for the construction of a 4 million- to 5 million-square-foot manufacturing facility on the 2,100-acre Austin Green site straddling the State Highway 130 toll road.

But commissioners don't expect to take any action on the agreement at the June 23 meeting, Nieto said. You can watch the meeting by following this link. The discussion will then be taken into executive session for legal consultation and economic development negotiations.

Del Valle Independent School District trustees have already approved accepting a Chapter 313 application for potential property tax breaks for the factory. Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed on June 18 on Twitter the company has an option to buy the East Austin land but has not done so yet. If the project does move forward, construction could begin in the third quarter of this year.
The final decision will not be made during this hearing, but rather during "executive session" later.

As noted in the quote above Del Vale ISD has already approved the incentives for their part. Now it is up the state and Travis County to close the deal, which they very likely will.

This is great news for Texas, & bad news for California. Liberal states just keep sinking deeper into the abyss of financial collapse. Let's pray Trump's re-elected so the Libs won't bail out all the Lib failed cities & states.

And also so they will not have us in permanent lockdown mode, from now on. Joe Biden would just be a puppet for these insane people. It would be a never-ending nightmare.

Which is what Elon Musk is trying to escape from out in California.

Wrong. Tesla has complained about California regulations, yes. The decision to build a factory in Texas is not related to that, it's 100% logistics due to shipping. Two completely separate issues. Even if California had a wide open unregulated business environment, Tesla would still build the new factory east of the Rockies.

The more businesses moving to Texas, the more liberals moving to Texas. Why do you think it's turning blue?
