I'd also have to wonder what the city being served with a number of lawsuits from the business owners and residents in the CHOP area, for failure to provide police and other services might have to do with the decision to dismantle.
Not much it would seem, as if you watch the vid, the news guy asks if people lying down in front of the bulldozers will be arrested and the reply was nope, if that happens, the workers will desist (paraphrasing).

I thought they took steps to dismantle after the kumbaya peaceful community had 2-4 shootings over a weekend or so.

The steps consisted of asking then to leave, then sending city workers to remove barriers. CHOPPERS pulled a gun in the city workers and lay down in front of their heavy eqiuipment, so the city workers noped outta there. Per the video link above.
I want to know what "taking shelter" in the police station means?' Have they taken the building over?
