I am comfortable with it because it came from China.

I’m well aware of all the hate crimes against Asians resulting from the novel coronavirus fallout.

My question is, are they the direct result of Trump’s words?

I do not follow Trump’s tweets (probably for the better) nor much of his rather inflammatory words, unless it directly relates to specific policy issues. I doubt many of the attackers follow them either. If anything they are probably more influenced by the general mass media content and tone, from both sides.

What exactly would indicate to you these attacks are inflamed by Trump?

I suspect nothing, but I welcome you to prove me wrong.

It doesn't bother me any more than using the term chinavirus... because it is a virus that did originate in China.

Yet the left want to blame Trump.

#TRUMP2020

P.S. I'll be the first to admit that Trump needs to stay off Twitter... but his personality isn't why I voted for him in 2016 and will again in 2020. I think he's the better of the 2 candidates now and I did then as well.

Your initial post in the bolded states otherwise.

Regardless, Asians have experienced hate crimes stemming from this pandemic in countries other than the US, countries that not only dislike Trump, but where the average local is not exposed to his every inflammatory tweets and press conferences - only their own media coverage of the virus.

And yet the hate crimes against East Asians, or against those just vaguely resembling them still occurred, regardless of their actual nationalities.

This indicates to me that mass media alone, and their non-stop sensationalized coverage, plays a major role in fanning the hate, independent of Trump’s specific words.

So, is there anything that would make you believe Trump’s words are having an impact on anti-Asian crime?

I believe his words are adding to it because his words are incendiary.

Yes, for sure. His denial and confused messaging has made the US #1 in the coronavirus death race. Winning! Now, where is that new improved health insurance he promised to roll out on day one of his presidency?

No, Trump is a potty mouth with no presidential class and is an awful fit for the oval office but I think a BLM president who endorses anarchy and wants "open season" on whites would be even worse. And for those of you who haven't read my posts from other threads, I am a person of color and about as white as chocolate ice cream. Therefore, I'd grudgingly vote for Trump (despite what he said) over Biden IF Biden picks Abrams of some other radical BLM as his V.P.

Anyway, the virus which has spread to every country in the world is the fault of the Chicoms. Period.
No, national crises have literally always required a federal response. And even if you disregard that, why do you think individual states get federal help after a major hurricane or other disaster? It's because individual states do not have the necessary resources to handle recovery efforts on that scale and never have. Covid is a national disaster and there was no way that states alone could've handled it. People are ignoring and dismissing your point because it's dumb and flies directly contrary to the very different levels of power of the states versus the federal government and their traditional roles in disaster response.

You're the one ignoring that there are multiple nations that have had excellent responses and have been able to drastically minimize both spread and deaths. The fact that the US could not is a huge blow to its claim of exceptionalism. It's an embarrassing catastrophe that's cost tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths because people like yourself refuse to pull your heads out of your butts long enough to hold your leaders accountable for their mistakes. You should be ashamed of all the blood on your hands. Instead, you're leaving red stains all over your back from patting it so much.
